Burglary Wed. Sept. 5th in El Tempiesque just west of San Juan Cosala
This from another chat group - second burglary just west of San Juan Cosala in one week:
Wed. Sept 5th - Between 9:40 a.m. and 10:05 a.m. today our home was broken into by an
individual. This is the second break in/robbery in our area in the last month.
Previously a male had been seen in the area, just wandering in the area on a
motorcycle...note that El Tempisque has only one way in, one way out...street
wise, there are fields with trails, cow paths..that are accessible...
Today: At approxmately 10:05 a.m. I passed a male, mid twenties, wearing a back
pack, sun glasses, ball cap, long sleeve sweatshirt, light complexion, about 5'
7" 150 lbs..is fit looking, he was walking up the main entrance to our driveway,
which divides at the bottom, going to our house and another...I said hello, he
responded, semi covered his face with his hand...was walking in a confident
manner..I was on a scooter. He is dressed neatly, blue jeans..no tears in
clothing, nor was his clothing dirty...has a light moustache
Given that there are only two houses at the end of the drive, and that he was
not working for either owner..its clear he was the criminal. Someone could
access our home areas from the highway side, front..they would have to trespass
to do so. It would be a 7-10 minute hike through heavy brush..he entered
through the top side of our property as I found a entry gate unlatched...
In the house he had broken into the back door with a crowbar, took some real
strength...took cash and jewelry...does not throw things around..does not
vandalize...is neat in his actions, it appears given his actions he has been in
homes owned by gringos, knows our method of storing things, hiding places...
Took no computers, 3 laptops in plain site, cameras..all of which could have fit
in his backpack.
After spending about 5 minutes in opening our gate, going to the house, finding
our dogs in the house, back door open...saw our office area had been torn up,
got on my scooter, went out to the highway, went West for a minutes, East for a
minute..no sign...so either he had his motorcycle stashed or he went on foot
into the brush.
We are in a secluded area..so he would have to do some observation in advance to
see when/how often we leave...they are higher observation points close by he
could do so...
We have 3 small dogs...they are not guard dogs..he did kick two of them in the
head/eyes...looks like they will be ok.
Notified the police, they came...to formalize we have to go to Joco tomorrow.
Hope this info provides further leads to this guy, raises awareness.

Heading west on the carraterra you pass through San Juan Cosala. After that the next major area is El Limon with the lemon hanging at the entrance. The next community on the mountain side is El Tempiesque and it's very small. A few days ago there was a major break in in El Limon just next to El Tmepiesque.

Simpsca, this same guy was riding around Rancho del Oro yesterday in the very early afternoon. I am sure it was him, the description is identical. I was leaving and I heard the motorcycle going by a few times but didn't think anything of it. I drove out of my garage and he was passing by, I had a good look at him and he glanced at my vehicle but didn't show much interest. I drove in the other direction and on a hunch went around the block. When I got back to my house about 60 seconds later the motor cycle was parked in front of my door and the guy was no where to be seen. I was rummaging in my bag for my camera to get a pic of it and then was going to call the neighbor to come over in case he had scaled the wall but he came walking back from around the corner. He saw me and hopped on the bike and sped off, unfortunately before I could get a pic.
I put the car back in the garage and waited a few minutes and he drove by slowly again but didn't stop.
I am trying to remember exactly what time it was but am drawing a blank.
My neighbors are all pretty vigilant as we had a rash of break in's and home invasions in the area about a year ago. I will ask if any of them saw this guy and perhaps got a description.

Sounds suspicious and good for you for being vigilant. Many years ago I was burgled when I lived in San Antonio Tlayacapan when my partner and I went out together. He returned one hour later while they were still in the house and they ran out the back tiny window they had broken. We are sure they were on the lookout and saw us go out together.
So you may have foiled something. I'll post this descpiption on other chat groups so people are on the look out.

Thanks for sharing the info. I forwarded his description to my neighbors as well. We keep a good eye on each other's houses and doorways.
The more I think about the timing of seeing him, the more I think it must have been just after he hit the El Tempiesque house. To the best of my memory it was shortly after noon but it may have been a bit before.

Posted descriptions on several other chat groups. If anyone sees a similar man try to note color of the bike, license plate # - if he is wearing anything distinctive - helmet a certain color.

I was at the MP when they arrested a burglar one day, the man had a backpack with everything necessady to enter houses. He had a very small crowbar used to enter houses.
I cannot see a backpack on someone who looks out of place without thinking of that man.
It makes sense he went for cash and jewelry that would easily fort in there too.
He probably will continue in that area, all the neighbors should be on alert and call the patrol if anyone sees him. The backback is very important.

I copied and pasted your post from Mexconnect and sent it out to all our neighbors in our Community and our other friends. Thanks for your effort.

Simpsca the bike was black, large and had a lot of chrome. It was not one of the crotch rocket types but fairly substantial.
The man either had a black helmet in his arms or that was his backpack. It was so fast and I just cannot recall it all but I am pretty sure he wasn't wearing a helmet.

In the Haciendas he was handing out some sort of business flyers but ran when a resident tried to take his picture.

We had a break in in Chula Vista yesterday evening. Wonder if it was the same guy. We were gone less than an hour. Whoever it was broke the lock on the door from our carport to the yard, then must have used a crowbar or something because the wall next to the door was busted and the metal door frame bent where they had to pry off the metal that was welded to the door frame to hold a very substantial padlock. This is our second break in in 4 months, we thought the large padlock and welded metal on the inside of the metal door would be sufficient. Guess we were wrong.

Put up some cameras, they hate those. Make them really really obvious, and make sure they swivel.

I like the suggestion someone on here made awhile back, wish I could remember their name because I like to give credit where credits due, anyhow put up some fake cameras in sight and the working ones hidden.
