Printer repair
I have an HP printer, scanner, fax, and copy machine (all in one). I can fax from it but it no longer prints. Does anyone know where I can go to have it repaired? Thanks for any help you can give me.

The only place I know of is in Guadalajara, on Avenida Mexico in a centre called Plaza Bonita, west of Plaza Mexico. I can't recall the name of the shop, but they sell ink cartridges, as well as do printer repairs, and they fixed my HP All-in-one. Good work and reasonable prices. There is a directory at the centre that lists all the tenants, and you should be able to identify it by the name on the directory, that's how I found it. Maybe someone else has had experience and can recall the name. Good luck.

I will suggest this guy in Ajijic, although I don't know if he can do it. He's been doing my computer repairs for years. He will tell you if he can fix it or not and he goes to GDL 3 times a week and can take it to the correct place. He's very honest. Give him a call.

Re: Printer repair
Sorry to say this but they are really not designed to be repaired
anymore. The $100/150 all in ones are the worst as they are
designed to be cheap to make and nothing else. The more
expensive officejets are better made but they are 250/350 and
use cheaper ink. So you either pay more for a printer and get
cheaper ink or pay less for the printer and pay through the nose
for ink and get a printer that is difficult to fix. HP doesn't fix anything
anymore in the low end price range. We just send another one and
breakup and recyle the broken one. I have no doubt some clever
person down here could fix it but they may not as parts are generally
not available for inexpensive computer stuff anymore. Not very environmental
but it is the business model consumers demanded that being cheap price.

Re: Printer repair
Gone are the days of "quality" anything.
After trying inkjets and replacing cartridges that were emptied only from using the automatic cycle, I went back to a Laserjet. Yes, mine only prints in black and white but that's most of my printing anyway.
The last HP Laserjet (#III ) I had lasted fourteen years...bought new in '88. It was a workhorse and one toner cartridge would last over a year.
They just don't make 'em like that anymore.

Re: Printer repair
HP hasn't kept parts for any InkJet for years. We had a fairly high end HP printer about 12 years ago - about $250 - and a tiny plastic part broker after 2 years. They were no longer supporting that printer and we had to junk it. We now buy Canon. They may not replace parts but the printers last longer.
And those old laser printers were amazing. I had an old IBM that just printed. Never jammed, never complained, just printed. It was too heavy to bring down here or I'd still have it.

Go to HP website and check out the color laser jets.
They are very affordable these days. Actually I have
a Officejet all in one that prints cheaper than a color
laser. It all depends how you buy your ink or toner
and the design of the printer.

Re: Printer repair
Looking back through some discussions. Did you get your printer repaired? If so, may I ask where? I have a Brother printer that isn't printing since we moved a month ago. Would like to have it looked at if the repairs are reasonable. Thanks!barbicheesecake wrote:Thanks for all your replies to my inquiry. I may have found some one who can repair it.

Perhaps as important: was it a software or a hardware problem?
