Drag racing in Guadalajara
There is a big 1/4 mile drag racing event on July 22 at the Autodromo Guadalajara. Can anyone tell me where this facility is located?
Re: Drag racing in Guadalajara
Maybe?

Trevor I am going on July 22. You can join us. I'll be in touch a few days in advance. Finally, a fellow motorhead............jajaja.
Re: Drag racing in Guadalajara
Trevor do you own that car? I'm jealous, I love vintage cars. My high shcool boyfriend had a 57 Chevy that he did all the work on himself. Loved that car, and him. Now I'm dating myself.

Home run Zed, I'd race for that team any day. Used to race G - sports production in the 60's and my Harley at the Ramona and Carlsbad drag strips. Fun stuff but I'd have to get a Team Viagra shirt and matching sombrero to get back in the saddle again.

Well I will check to see if they have a low budget "door slammer" amateur division and you never know. I already have my eye on a 62' Falcon that would go like a scalded cat with a modern 5 liter, FI, supercharged running gear. We'll tub it out and put a shortened 9" in the rear.....jajaja.

Re: Drag racing in Guadalajara
Was that a poncho ? Race day. Wow. Cold BBQ chicken with a little tarragon infused mayo on the side, the usual sides. Cold cervasas. The senoritas. The dudes. God exists in Mexico. Used to do this up the hill in Coquitlam. Honda Civics. Great times. Unfortunately, I'll be absent, but what a great upcoming retirement bonus. The whiff of HiTest in the air, burning rubber, the complete disregard for anything approximating "Green". And the "ladys" love it. Yeah baby.

Re: Drag racing in Guadalajara
For the questions about the car in my avatar yes i DID own it (1959 Laurentian, canadian pontiac) but had to sell it in december. It was lowered and it had the original 283 engine and trans so im not sure if it would have made it here through the mountians. I sold it to a friend and miss it sooooo much. At least i have a tattoo of it I see everyday! LOL! CanuckBob, are you talking about the maroon falcon in ajijic?? I would love to go to the races, so keep in touch! Im now looking for a motorcycle to fool around with so if anyone spots a cheap(under 10,000 pesos would be nice) cruiser style moto let me know. I want to make a bobber style bike.

Yes, I was referring to the maroon Falcon. I have also owned and restored many classic cars. My last one was a '63 Corvette which I sold to come down here........
Re: Drag racing in Guadalajara
That Laurentian is bad ass, bet the 63 Vette was too. Mexican Drag Racing has got to be as cool as Mexican Wrestling easily.... Maybe you have to have a hood bra that looks like a mask
Would have loved to make this one...have fun...the Falcon sounds like a great project car

It was a convertible, 327, 4 gear, fuelie, all original, numbers match. I didn't get a price on the Falcon and today I see it isn't sitting there any more.

Re: Drag racing in Guadalajara
Hey, I'd love to play and I have a big rolling tool box full of tools. I even still have a brake adjusting tool, when was the last time ya used one of those?
Gave up a 66 Mustang Convertible when we moved down here.

Jesus, Bob, there's no way I could have given that up. What a SWEET ride those old vettes are. Have a buddy in MD with an all original, totally correct and fully restored '66 vette convertible, concours quality. You just wouldn't believe what he has been offered for that.
