New Income requirements for FM3?
Copied/pasted from the Yahoo Groups Chapala. Any thoughts from people in the know?
***************** Copy/Paste begins here*****************
Throughout Mexico the Immigration manual which I have seen and discussed today
with Immigration staff has just changed.
Their goal is to have you prove your income and bank statements no longer will
suffice. This applies to both those applying for a Non-inmigrante and an
Inmigrante visa for the first time and for the 5th renewal. I also realize each
Immigration office may interpret these rules differently.
One option is to have a letter on your bank's letter head stating your monthly
income. This letter is to be signed by a bank official and of course stamped. It
is also to indicate your full name and account number. It has to be issued
within the past 90 days. This letter must be translated to Spanish but this
translation can be translated by anyone.
Another option is to prove income via for example your income tax statements as
issued by pension plans etc. For example, if your former employer from whom you
draw a pension issues a W-2 or canadian equivalent you can provide that
document. You must also add a letter in Spanish stating you swear that what your
are submitting is true.
I can see these changes may cause some to go "underground" and just come in on a
FMM and forget the rest and remain here illegally. I can also understand the
problem in getting such an original letter from a bank and to do so quickly.
I am just the messenger. :-)

Re: New Income requirements for FM3?
I just got my FM3 about 3 weeks ago. All I had to provide was 3 monthly statements of my investment (Mar, April, and May). I printed them off the internet. No other letter or nada........
I didn't even submit my birth certificate. Just my FMM and passport. Took all of 1 1/2 weeks from start to finish.

Was there a requirement to have your bank statements translated into Spanish?
I'm not sure that the above info is correct.
It would be best if Spencer could weigh in on this.

Re: New Income requirements for FM3?
These regulations may not apply currently, or be proposed for the future.
We did five years on FM3 and then just last week received our fourth FM2 through Spencer's office, which I highly recommend for speed and efficiency.
I don't think the Mexican government really wants to get rid of those pension/bearing foreigners who wish to move here. We are a profit center.

Apparently not for each year renewal, just the first time and the 5th year renewal.jackak10 wrote:

Re: New Income requirements for FM3?
The OP posted something posted by someone else on a Yahoo Group, dubious credibility at best. I'll wait for Spencer to clarify if and when such new requirements are put into effect.

We didn´t turn anything into immigration today but did yesterday and there were no changes mentioned. We will be turning in client´s papers tomorrow so if there are any changes they will tell us.

All I gave Spencer was what I quoted. It is correct. Whether they did translations, I have no idea. You may want to use Chapala Law next time out.........
Re: New Income requirements for FM3?
I have had inquiries and honestly immigration locally has been lagging on things in the past 2 weeks so not sure if it is coincidence or something else, I also have to go with clients to immigration in Guadalajara so soon we will get to the bottom of this.

Re: New Income requirements for FM3?
Maybe it is time for folks to stop and think about the evolution of this new Immigration Law? Since it was announced about a year ago, I have personally seen so many "absolutes" about what this new law will contain when fully implemented that one could fill a book with and the "speculations" continue. As with so many things in Mexico, the only thing that makes a difference is what a particular office is doing on a given day!
One of these days, they may finalize all of the provisions of the new law but until then, all of the rumors/rumours mean very little or really nothing!

I trust what Intercasa says and do not consider anything he says rumor.

Merry:
Wasn't referring to anything said by Spencer but more so the OP. I am sure that Spencer goes with the day to day flow and is quite used to the constant change!
Not so much on this forum but on others, there have been more than an adequate supply of "all knowing experts" who claim to have it straight from the horse's rear end on how things will be implemented. They will further claim that it will be the same everywhere. If that were to happen, I would have to say it would be a first in Mexico! HA!

Yeah but once Intercasa/Spencer chimes in I consider anything else the horses rear end. Oops I guess that includes us! LOL

Re: New Income requirements for FM3?
The big question is what will be valid, under a new administration, should that be the case?

Re: New Income requirements for FM3?
When wse did our initial FM3 (via Mago), we were required to have our income proofs (bank statements) translated.
On renewal, nada.

The new law is LAW and not subject to fiddling by a new administration.

Unless of course, it is not yet a new law. This is currently questionable.

Re: New Income requirements for FM3?
The law is already passed, 24 May 2011. What we are waiting for are the implementing regulations which might be influenced by a new administration..
Re: New Income requirements for FM3?
And who knows if they'll make more changes or if the new administration will make it a law sometime in years to come. This is Mexico manana, manana.

Current requirements, as of this week
Two to five year renewal. four infantile photos of front and right side with no glasses or jewelry. Color or B and W. Smile or not. Farmacia GDL perfectly acceptable and by far the least expensive and the quickest. Think I paid 50 pesos for their Fm3 renewal special, which included all eight required photos. Copy of face page of passport and turn in current FM3 and carry a copy. Mine is ready now. Picking it up Monday morning at 11:30 after the crowds thin out. Bank statements and proof of address required on the sixth year of renewal only and every five years thereafter. easy peasy. At least this year. chico
Susana Rodriguez attorney/facilitator. Have been using her services for seven years, both as an attorney and as a facilitator 376-766-4240

having just renewed our "non immigrante" ourselves for the second time, they require 3 full face photos and 2 right side. Depending on the person who deals with your application they may or may not accept Farmacia GDL so we use a prof photographer. 100 pesos is better than a facilitators charge and it is so easy. Less than 2 hours for 2 persons total time

Chico - Are you renewing your FM 3, getting a new FM 3 or new FM 2? What is Susannas charge, excluding what you paid for photos?

But local Immigration offices do it all the time. Large differences in what is required around the country
