Policia . . .
. . . truck just came through SAT a little while ago making an announcement on the speaker system. My gardener is here so I asked him what they were saying and he told me nobody is to be on the street after 10PM.

Re: Policia . . .
Seriously? I'm in SAT and haven't heard a thing. They must have not gone down my street. . .
I will, however, abide.

Hmmm, nothing on chapala.gob.mx about this. There is, though, an update on that site with an emphasis on not being taken in by virtual extortion by phone which may have accounted for a woman disappearing in Joco (who is now safe.)

Wouldn't an adviso like that come from the police department? And if it did would they hire a truck/car with speakers to drive around SAT broadcasting? Maybe someone in SAT (who speaks Spanish) would like to call the Chapala Police Dept. @ 765-4444 and find out.

These days, who the hell needs a sound truck to know to be inside one´s fort well before 10:00PM. Make that 8:30PM.
Dawg´s heading for Paris where the temperature should be about 22-24 Celcius perhaps with some rain. Fine, cool weather and, while venturing into certain ruffian neighborhoods in Paris can be a bit dicey, they don´t typically torture you and cut you into manageable pieces before sticking your head in the freezer.
When Dawg comes back to Lakeside , I expect things to have calmed down or I´ll contact my friend, Zapatista Comandante Zero in San Cristóbal for dinner resaervations in Centro and head southeast . One needn´t fear the random machete attack when dining with Comandante Zero.

I think before dark or around 9:00 PM is good if you're concerned.

Who would not be concerned when the admitted moron behind the kidnappings, torturings and slaughters of the past couple of weeks stated on Guadalajara television under police custody that the Zetas gave him a quota of people to kidnap, torture and slaughter and, in his own words, there were so many federales around town he couldn´t fulfill his quota so he proceeded to kidnap, torture and slaughter innocent civillians at random who just happened to be walking the public streets and highways or kids partying late night on the Ajijic malecon.
You´d have to be brain dead not to be concerned.

I too passed a Chapala police truck making announcements. Had no idea what they were saying but whatever it was, they were saying it loud.

Don't worry about it....there are hard core posters on the Board that jump on every opportunity to beat up a poster. Join us the 24th @ Board meeting....PM for directions.....you will meet many on this board, that don't hide behind screen names.

Agree, Itsme. Just take it in stride. We need everyone's eyes and ears. Thanks for the heads-up.

Re: Policia . . .
Just called Chapala police....Seguridad Publica...there is NO curfew, NO toque de queda has been announced. Policewoman who answered phone said no police unit had been tasked with announcing anything like this in San Antonio or any other part of Chapala municipality. I speak fluent Spanish, and am bi-cultural so no misunderstanding.

"My gardener told me"...where have I heard that before?
I wouldn't pass anything my gardener told me onto this board....and he's pretty bright.
