Girl kidnapped at Soriana

The street info is that a young girl yesterday, ran into Soriana shouting for help, followed by four gunmen
that took the girl as they had their guns on the people

OMG, I agree with John! These certainly are the end of times.

I see that Johninajijic has the same comments about any reporting of
bad behavior by the Narcos.
Maybe I should begin to fear those that defend, or prefer to be skeptical,
& wish to continue living in "La La Land"
When these events happen & witnessed, the witnesses do not come forward due to the fact they may be speaking to an accomplice(police).
They return to their community & the reports begin to surface.
I can readily determine that many of these readers have very little contact
or understanding of the Mexican culture/community.

I know few people who do not believe these rumors now. I feel that by best information comes from my Mexican friends that speak English. I know I am understanding 100% of what they say. My friends are well educated and have many family and friends in the area. Some are US citizens or are married to Canadians/Americans. So far, every rumor they have told me about has been eventually confirmed. One friend, a Mexican woman in her 20s, told me she is terrified. She is from a good family, has an advanced degree and is married to an American. She said she knows people who have had family members, young women, who have been kidnapped. That is why you will see many husbands/boyfriends/employers driving the young women they know to and from school and work. I told the lady who cleans my house not to come if she thinks it is dangerous.... I will still pay her. I hope others do the same thing during the next few weeks.

I have another American friend who has lived there for a decade and she has a young Mexican woman staying at her house on weekdays so she does not have to take the bus home to Joco.

I think people who think these rumors are nonsense really have a problem. If they do not believe these stories now, after having the proof in dead bodies from some of the people "rumored" to be missing a few weeks ago.

I don't know about the uncaring part, but it is sure the language of bullies....maybe espiritu should be sentenced to watching "The Bully" over and over and over and over again....

johninajijic has probably never had this many people on his side, but I too agree that that statement was a tipping point. Bad to ya...espiritu.

Back to the OP, I'd like to follow up on this rumor to see if there is any truth to it. I'm having a hard time believing 4 armed men chased a young girl who was shouting for help into Soriana's and then held their customers at gun point while they captured and left with her. Anyone?

I'm with you, Oncesubtle, I'd like to hear some kind of denial or confirmation from a reliable source too. Oh wait, there isn't one.

I do find this report particularly disturbing, and I think it could happen easily. After all, that's pretty much how they snatched Abel Paz and his 2 friends right off the Ajijic malecón one afternoon in broad daylight. With an eye witness! Who's going to step in and stop 'em?

Now that we have the military and more state guys patrolling I think we are safer for the time being.

Maybe, it would be a good idea to take a step back and ask yourself: "if my son or daughter were kidnapped in Mexico, would I want this information to be public knowledge"? Remembering that this incident (as reported) happened in Mexico, I would personally have to answer: "hell no!". First of all (as I understand procedures), the family must actually request and then give law enforcement permission to pursue the kidnappers. Second, there is the Mexican recreational sport of extortion - what a perfect opportunity to take advantage of someone missing a child. In thinking back to the most recent incident, there were plenty of rumors about people being missing but people tended to be disbelieving because they were not seeing reports on the TV news or in the newspapers.
