In harms way - a safe harbor
If any member of this board ever feels they are in imminent danger they can come to our place and stay until the threat passes. We have 4 2 bd apartments and can usually accommodate. Cost ya 50 pesos a day to cover utilities and maid. We're in Chapala.
I hope the need will never arise but if it does you have friends and a safe harbor in Chapala.

Re: In harms way - a safe harbor
Really if anybody wants real freedom right now, come here to Guadalajara. So many of you fear the big city but the food, nightlife and freedom is incredible. Last night we went to a nice Italian place and were there until 11pm, all tranquil, a night spot next door with single girls arriving alone all night long, nobody worried.
Driving home to my place in Zapopan (just named 1 of the 2 safest municipalities in the State of Jalisco) I came across 100's of people riding bikes at night with a police escort, they have these night rides all the time.
Is it really worth currently holding on to the myth that it is dangerous to drive to the city and enjoy life here while things get worse in the Chapala where there is one road between the two towns, a scared police force and nothing to do but lock yourself inside?????
Let me show you the good life here in the city and you may like it too much, being able to go out, a very high class of people, feeling poor driving your new Toyota and seeing people in high line cars and convertibles with no fear while those lakeside are scared driving around in their jalopies.

Re: In harms way - a safe harbor
I think Intercasa's post is just a teensy bit elitist, and directed at a much, much younger crowd that the likes of all too many of us. I can just imagine the reception a group of old farts.....no matter how well outfitted, arriving at one of the "in" clubs would get. ROFL. Nobody, but nobody, can look farther down their nose than one of the "beautiful people" in Guad. Fine for them.........they're enjoying themselves at a magical time of life. That, too, shall pass.
Personally, I'm enjoying my life right here in Ajijic. I'm not hovering behind my walls in fear. I don't drive a jalopy but don't either envy or have more respect for those who have more "stuff" than I do. Been there, done that and don't need it anymore.
Besides, the last trip I took to Zapopan (last Saturday) had air that smelled like Los Angeles at its worst with a grungy brownish sky. You can have it, amigo!

Guad is a huge city and there are so many things to do, i.e. Art exhibits and places to eatand just walk around and stroll and relax, there are night spots with live music and many salsa places with lessons and ones that cater to the 50 and older crowd
