Just some more basic stuff about different strum patterns, etc. I'll send you a note in a few days so we can get together and shoot the shit about it.

Trevor, I have a steel string Takamine acoustic that has a neck problem. It's been repaired a few times but after awhile it tweaks back again and the action rises. I think the nut must be stripped. Can you help?

I can take a look at it trailrunner. Sometimes if it keeps tweaking back it could mean the neck is just too warped now but like you said, it could be a loose adjusting nut. Just tell me when you want me too look at it and we can meet sometime. cheers

They sell sewing and knitting supplies...and guitar strings. (I guess there is some logic to that.) Last time I was in there, they had El Cometa strings. You will have to ask for them since they are kept behind the counter. The Spanish for guitar strings is "cuerdas para guitarra"

Thanks but I am very particular about the strings I put on my Breedlove. I need to find a well stocked music store as there are a couple other small items I wish to pick up. Solovino, do you know if the store you mentioned carries John Pearse strings? Or Martin?

I've never seen American-brand guitar strings in music stores here. But I have seen them advertised on mercadolibre.com, including Martin and John Pearse.

Trevor "poncho" Armstrong wrote:there is also a music store in the gallerias mall, the second floor i believe. I got nylon and steel classical strings from them. They sell all sorts of strings and some real nice guitars too. I almost picked up a epiphone SG but i dident like the neck as much as the older ones. Plus my wife would have shot me if i bought another guitar!! And for anyone interested I am looking to jam with some people so drop me a line!! And, I also repair (and build electric) guitars and basses so if you need one fixed let me know and I might be able to help you.

Thanks, I'll check out the mall since we always visit Costco and Sam's while in the city.

We stopped at Galerias and found the store there that carries guitars and strings, Mr. CD. Didn't find what I want to visited Metropoli where I found a much larger selection. Didn't have my preferred strings but found a very good alternative. It is quite a large store with some top quality guitars, especially some very nice Taylor acoustics.

glad you found some strings. what kind? Have you seen any used electric guitars or amps anywhere? I would love to find some old weird 60s or 70s guitars someday. Where is metropoli? I havent lived here to long so i dont know where alot of things are.

They had some Martin FX bronze. I like Martin SP strings. They stand up better to dirty fingers!

Metropoli is on 16 de Septiembre just a couple blocks from Avenida La Paz. They have free parking a half block from the store.

Metropoli is a well worth the trip. You can take the bus to the station and walk the few easy blocks if you don't want to drive. There are many many smaller shops selling musical instruments, doing repairs, selling old used stuff within just a couple of blocks of Metropoli. Have fun!
