Problem solved. Mi amigo is bringing me dos sets when he comes down on Tuesday.
Re: Classical guitar strings
Damn! I was hoping for an answer as I need some ,too. If anyone can offer an answer, please, join in. Bought my guitar in Paracho, but don't want to go back there just for strings. Nvajoa is just too far for Martin strings

You could try Metropoli on Av. 16 de Septiembre in Guadalajara, a block and a half north of La Paz.

Thanks. I was hoping I could avoid going to Guad. Had a wreck there last month, first one EVER, and swore off driving there. Bryan James had his shop in Chapala a few years back, hoping someone could fill a void. Hard to make a living selling guitar strings, I guess.

Re: Classical guitar strings
I ended up getting another set in San Miguel a few weeks ago. Your Paracho guitar has nylon strings. Correct? If not, I would be willing to sell you this set of metal wound strings I just brought back. Let me know.
Re: Classical guitar strings
Thanks, but , yes, they are light guage nylons. Fantastic guitar, I might add. And I appreciate the offer.

Re: Classical guitar strings
I also have a Paracho guitar which I purchased there a few years ago. The craftsmanship is awesome. I will be in Guadalajara today and will look for some nylon strings for you.
Re: Classical guitar strings
Rico, I picked you up a set of nylon strings. 80 pesos. PM me your phone # so we can arrange to meet!
Re: Classical guitar strings
I will be at volleyball tomorrow if that works for you. We have met there before, and even if you don't remember me, I remember you

Re: Classical guitar strings
If anyone wants to have strings sent to my pick up point in Arlington TX, I'll be there in two weeks and back here in three. If you buy boxed sets on line, they are a heckuva lot cheaper than single sets purchased in a store.
PM me if you'd like me to bring some back for you.

OK I will come by there but it may not be until 12:00 or so. Shouldn't be any later than 12:30pm.

They are suffering from the flood of guitars from China though! Also in the USA there is a big problem with counterfeit Gibson Les Paul guitars from China. Hard to tell them from the real thing, but they are not Gibsons.

Re: Classical guitar strings
I have a friend who just arrived from the States and he brought a number of guitar strings with him, both steel and nylon. If anyone needs strings you can give him a call on his cell: 331 030 0891 - his name is Mark.

One of the realities in Mexico with all of the talented artisans is that spies or straw buyers from both China and India are purchasing samples or taking detailed photos of many Mexican crafts to knockoff and flood the world marketplace. This is just one of the reasons that artisans and shops are getting more restrictive on the taking of photos.

Could you tell me where you found the strings, please? I need new bronze strings for my Breedlove and I'll be going to Guadalajara on Monday. TIA.

Re: Classical guitar strings
You can get nylon and steel strings in Ajijic. There is a small shop on the south side of Constitucion, just a few doors east of Colon. There is no sign on the store. They sell sewing and knitting supplies...and guitar strings. (I guess there is some logic to that.) Last time I was in there, they had El Cometa strings. You will have to ask for them since they are kept behind the counter. The Spanish for guitar strings is "cuerdas para guitarra"

OMG I just noticed that store yesterday. I DO believe the name on the awning says "EL CENTRAL."

Thanks but I am very particular about the strings I put on my Breedlove. I need to find a well stocked music store as there are a couple other small items I wish to pick up. Solovino, do you know if the store you mentioned carries John Pearse strings? Or Martin?

Re: Classical guitar strings
I got the strings at the Mercado Libertad which is right beside the San Juan del Dios Mall in Guadalajara. I did see a few other music stores in the area as well.
Re: Classical guitar strings
Thank you kindly amigo. I will check out the area and if time allows visit the Metroply store also.

Re: Classical guitar strings
there is also a music store in the gallerias mall, the second floor i believe. I got nylon and steel classical strings from them. They sell all sorts of strings and some real nice guitars too. I almost picked up a epiphone SG but i dident like the neck as much as the older ones. Plus my wife would have shot me if i bought another guitar!! And for anyone interested I am looking to jam with some people so drop me a line!! And, I also repair (and build electric) guitars and basses so if you need one fixed let me know and I might be able to help you.

Re: Classical guitar strings
Just some more basic stuff about different strum patterns, etc. I'll send you a note in a few days so we can get together and shoot the shit about it.
