Dad punishes Facebook post with 8 bullets to daughter's laptop

"A video purporting to be the work of an angry father teaching his daughter a lesson by shooting bullets through her laptop is the viral video of day. The father, who identifies himself as Tommy Jordan, says his daughter broke ground rules when using Facebook, and posted disrespectful remarks about him there.

He retaliates by laying out a case against her in an 8-minute video, concluding it with firing 8 bullets through her computer. The video was posted on YouTube and supposedly on the 15-year-old girl’s Facebook page last night. By mid-morning, it had more than 1 million views, and it sparked debate across the Web – some cheered on the father’s "tough love," while others accused him of abuse..................................

If a father wants to shoot his daughters laptop he can. Go away until you can say something intelligent which you do once

I think that shooting the laptop certainly made a point, but better yet, he could have just sold it and put the money away to send her to boot camp down the line!
Hey guys.........the teenager was just being a teenager and dad was just being a dad at his wits' end. End of story.

Agree, a waste of a good laptop. I would have just confiscated all her electronic toys, including this one. However, it wouldn't have made for nearly as an entertaining act of discipline.

He should have given it to a poor, well deserving student. Taught 2 lessons in one deed.

This video looks a little staged however if it is real this guy should be awarded a medal and be put in charge of child welfare for all of North America. There was nothing abusive or disrespectful in the way he addressed his daughter and assuming he paid for that laptop he can shoot it any old time he wants........

Seems that so far nobody has noticed that the girl was underaged, 15, and allowed to have a private, as in no parents allowed page on facebook. A recipe for trouble if I ever saw one.

i saw the video. the only thing she did wrong was post on facebook. he could get in as she was under 18. she could have talked on phone or in person w/her friends like i did. i am sure none of you ever criticized your parents. maybe you dont get it that can happen. it is not what she said, it that she let herself be caught. (like a politician having an affair). if she feels that way about her parents, it is her right. i also dont get the disrespect thing, as the page for for OTHER 15yr olds. she does not like her father, thats her right too. since he paid for the lap top he also had a right to take it away. she also has a right not to see him when he gets old. OK? its called free thought, pay your $ take your chances. & shame on her for underestimating her fathers tech ability.

The one thing that struck me when watching the video was his claim about being an IT expert. Granted some or even most It experts can be viewed as "geeks" but his demeanor just didn't seem to ring right to me.

OK Laugh out LOUD!!! I kinda get your thought point however "What are we suppose to look like??" Lets find out if I resemble that remark and remember we are
in our third generation of computer geeks and each generation looks different. The first ones were in black slacks, shoes, and pants with a white shirt short hair
and a pocket protector to keep his wife happy. Industry geeks tended to look a little different than university geeks who tended to be math guys in the old days
as computer science only existed as courses in the Math Department. In those days computers were so expensive that computer operators made as much money
or more as the programmers and analysts. Now computer operator is as obsolute as a Buggy whip maker.

So what does a geek (not a nerd) look like ?? This could be fun!!!!

P.S. Oh yea I forgot the pre calculater period when points were added having a slide rule hanging down your side just like a colt 44 in the holster and we use to
compare sliderules:-)

Ahhh but wait until it reaches the point where you can't apply for a job unless you are on facebook so they can evaluate your social factor or whatever.
Try to post to letters to the editor or opinions on newspapers and such they are rapidly moving towards facebook only logons and such. I agree this is
nuts what people are doing on facebook in my humble opinion. Eventually not being on facebook will be like trying to get a job without a phone is today.
I find all this to be UBER stupid. Will facebook become like a Tatoo on your body you can never get rid of. I would do facebook only with a false name.
