Dr. Juan Pablo strikes again...
So there I was one recent afternoon just sitting at my desk reading the boards when something in the back of my neck goes 'twoing'. Dang I thought, smote again by a vengeful Lord. Well by nightfall I was really hurting and the next morning could barely make it out of bed.
Now when this would happen stateside I would just ride it out as getting an appointment to see a doctor would take at least a week, but not down here. So I call Dr. Juan Pablo, explain my problem and he shows up with some kind of electrical medical instrument which he applies for 10 minutes and gives me a two day supply of muscle relaxers. By that afternoon the pain was almost gone and the next morning it was gone. Cost, 250 pesos, relief from pain, priceless.
I just can't say enough about the guy.

Re: Dr. Juan Pablo strikes again...
I had been looking for a good local doctor and after reading the positive comments on this board about him I went to see him. I have the litany of aging problems; hypertension, type II diabetes, etc.. I was very impressed with him in our first meeting and have been very pleased with the followup.

The numbers are deceiving, it's in the 2nd block just past the corner on the east side of the street. Blue front.

Is the cost of an office visit reasonable?

I know what you’re talking about. I had this doctor that couldn’t find anything negative to say to me, so he had to remind me I’d gained one (1) pound. I may have gained a pound but he lost someone with great insurance.

Re: Dr. Juan Pablo strikes again...
I want to make an appointment with Dr. Juan. I went by his office, it was open but there was no receptionist nor anyone else there that I could see. He may have been in the examining room but I didn't wait around that long. I tried calling the number above but no answer. Any suggestions?

Re: Dr. Juan Pablo strikes again...
Dr. Juan was unavailable yesterday afternoon as we were in Guadalajara at a specialized medical lab having some radiological and 'big equipment' testing. (I mention this because it is an aspect of the services he provides that most folks probably don't realize.)
Anyway, Dr. Juan had made the appointments for the tests, picks me up and it's off to the big city. Once at the lab it's only a minute wait as he checks us in and I pay the for the tests. Then with receipts in hand we go upstairs to the labs where he supervises each test. And comforting it was to have my doctor and the techs futzing around to ensure the tests were complete and accurate.
Afterwards a my treat dinner at his favorite sushi restaurant ... mine too now, and home again.
While I'm at it and on another front: Candace got really sick one night last week so in the morning I called Dr. Juan and he came over, examined her and said, "We need some lab test." Uh she's really sick doc, is there anything else we can do? "Well yes he said, I will stop by the lab and have them come over here." Waaa?
The lab lady was here in 20 minutes, did the blood draw, some other stuff and was just leaving when I asked how much and when the results would be available and she said, "Dr. Juan put a rush on the tests and they will be e-mailed to him in 2 1/2 hours, that will be 450 pesos." By noon we had the meds. and by 2:00 p.m. she was starting to feel better.
You might want to remember these enhanced services and just for fun, tell folks back home. ;-)

Re: Dr. Juan Pablo strikes again...
My wife and I had our first appointments with Dr. Juan today. As stated by many others we were extremely impressed. He spent 1 hour with each of us gathering our medical history and doing a routine check-up. This was the most thorough examine and questioning I have ever had. This is what medicine should be all about. Back in Canada the doctors are shuffling you out if the office after 5 minutes and if you want more they say "make another appointment". I didn't realize the sad state of medical system up there until now. Thank you Dr. Juan!!!

Re: Dr. Juan Pablo strikes again...
Why does it seem a universal affliction that small town people whether iin Mexico or France or Alaabama or Siberia become unduly enamored of young or old attractive physicians from exotic places? This is especially true in hick towns where local folks suffer from "retard" complexes. This fellow Juan Pablo may be an astute medical practitioner or a charlatan but he is practically worshipped for no other reason than his celebrity simply because he is. What facile bulñlshit.
Dawg lives in Chiapas as well as Lakeside and I remain utterly amazed at how small town foks revere physicians. How pathetic - and that is no reflection on the physician under discussion but on the community that kisses that physician´s ass. Incredible. Humiliating. Extraordinary. Embarrassing. However, that´s life. If you are planning to extract my gall bladder, Doc, leave my pancreas be.
