Regional differences are what they are.

Actually, well said for a midwestern rube. Dawg had wondered how to render the sound correctly but lacks knowledge in English fundamentals, pitfart.
By the way, I hesitated originally to tell you this but the folk wisdon in the Sacramento Valley where countless thousands of acres are given over to almond tree cultivation, is that, since almonds are normally harvested by shaking the trees with expensive machinery, the harvesting process knocks the "L" out of them. This is a local joke which you may find a bit off-putting.
That letter "a" is a tricky s.o.b. I would have written "ahmond" since it is a broad "a" (according to Webster's); also, there are differences in the pronunciation of "salmon" -- as I found out when I visited my son in Seattle.hound dog wrote:... I will enlighten you and let you know that "almond" is pronounced "amond" among Sacramento Valley almond growers and to mispronounce "amonds" as "almonds" immediately identifies one as an "auslander" of dubious character.

Is that what they mean when they say: "You're full of prunes!"?
I see, Arbon, that the pigs have been fed today allowing you the time to engage in mindless chatter. No matter how inane the chatter here becomes, it beats those pig satisfaction grunts up there on the Frozen Tundra, no?

A little aside for you Mexican sun dried out prunes or plums- aka expats. Today was an interesting, invigorating and refreshing experience driving the Trans. Canada Hwy. leading into Vancouver through what is locally known as the Sumas flats with the 60 mph wind whipping the 4 ft of freshly fallen snow into a 10% visibility snow storm. The sculptuer of the crisp snowbanks were fantastic.
What a great and enjoyable day in the tundra.

I would not want to be in the middle of a 60 mph winds and 4 ft of freshly fallen snow. Are you serious about that being a "great and enjoyable day in the tundra"? Or was your tongue tightly held next to your cheek?

His tongue was probably frozen to the steering wheel and he had to text the post with gloves on.
