Looking for some top quality outdoor furniture (chairs, tables, lounges) for the terazza. The furniture at El Doirado is the type we're looking for. Any recommendations for sources? I'm guessing Tomala is the place to head.

Thanks for any ideas.

Visit Rattan de Guadalajara on Lopez Mateos Sur. They have very nice things. Also, there is a outdoor furniture store across from them.

Muebles Fundidos Aristicos in Tonala has one of the biggest selections of cast aluminum patio furniture we have run across:

Easy establishment to find. After taking the main Tonala exit, when you get to the main(first) traffic light - take a left onto Ave Tonala. Follow Ave Tonala and you will go down a winding hill. Just as you reach the bottom of the hill, you will see this shop and manufacturing facility on your left. Hard to miss as it is a big facility with a large display yard.

I should add that there are numerous smaller shops that cast aluminum furniture but don't have the sophisticated powder coating techniques that the above shop uses. We have been told that the aluminum used by many of the smaller operations comes from recycling of aluminum transmission cases.

There is an outdoor furniture place on the mountain side of the carraterra between Chapala and Riberas. Lots of furniture sitting under a patio area outside. Don't know the style you are looking for as I'm not familiar with the name.

Hocks:

The sun table is designed to have a round glass top. Even with that, you can tip over your iced tea especially of they are Long Island versions!

well... glass would make all the difference :)

after possession date... I was on terrace scratching my head looking at this leather / stick stuff.... and I thought " what the hell... I'll use it for a while " ... don't even think of replacing the stuff today... it's great... very sturdy, durable... and again comfortable...

Neil... I like my iced tea plain... no lemon... no sugar... even .... no booze....

I have been known to add Baileys to my coffee :)

For wrought iron furniture there's no place like Tonala. Most of our stuff is from there. We then had sombrella seat cushions made for them.

For a seating area I prefer rattan with large comfortable cushions, however find that Rattan de Guadalajara and the shop across the street are way too expensive for what you get. We found a really nice rattan type set in Costco, they delivered it for free, after a bit of negotiation. Both Sam's and Costco usually have very nice sets of outdoor furniture for about half or less what you'd pay at a specialty shop.

BTW we did try actual rattan for a few years and the birds ate it.

Rattan de Guadalajara makes aluminum and vinyl outdoor furniture, not just rattan. It's high quality and you get what you pay for. At least, we did.

Neil is right about that place. They custom made outside light fixtures for us. The quality is absolutely outstanding. They ship all over the world.

Well, since our place is a pretty traditional Mexican style we decided on wrought iron, and have had absolutely no complaints regarding the quality of the items we bought in Tonala over 12 years ago. I'm not arguing about the fact that Rattan de Guadalajara is high quality, just that with a bit of looking around you can find better prices.

Some years later we bought some leather and wrought iron bar stools in Tonala, great value, very comfortable and they are absolutely top quality.

Our only objection to the custom wrought iron furniture that we had made in Tonala about 13 years ago was the quality of the finish. The paints they used had a tendency to chip or pit and then would develop rust spotting. Hopefully they have switched to better quality finishes since the dark ages of 13 years ago.

One great thing about the place I specified earlier in this thread is that they powder coat in a wide range of colors.
