IMSS Jocotopec problems
I just saw this on Chapala.com and thought I would share it here. "My friends went to Jocotopec and the pharmacy was closed permanently. they got no meds and the Dr. said he could no longer prescribe medicines as IMSS was broke. also said if you receive service at IMSS hospital you have to pay now, no longer free."
Does anyone know if this is true? I don't have IMSS but know that many of you do.

Re: IMSS Jocotopec problems
The IMSS problems are of much concern to me hopefully this turns out to be wrong information.
Re: IMSS Jocotopec problems
Has anyone actually phoned the IMSS to confirm this? These two lakeside clinics have been an ongoing problem for months now. If anyone has the number for the new hospital in Tlajomulco I could call and check there.
In the meantime, people who claimed to have been going there with attorneys etc. have never reported anything back. Why is that do you suppose?

Re: IMSS Jocotopec problems
I'm heading out within the hour to see whats up at Joco myself. I also have to go to the new hospital soon for lab work. I'll report back if they try and charge me. In the past I've gone into the clinic in Joco and the pharmacy is closed with the guy on his lunch.
Re: IMSS Jocotopec problems
Albert, I have just gotten off the phone with IMSS. This appears to be a miscommunication.
1. There has been no official notice regarding any of this.
2. Some clinics, depending on the time of the month may be out of some medications. In this case go to another local clinic, or the hospital.
3. This is Dia de los muertos, and possibly the farmacia is closed today.

Re: IMSS Jocotopec problems
I hope it is mis-reporting. I did hear some pretty bad things about the Jocotopec IMSS recently from friends who go there and receive medication. They were denied a certain med but received it when he went to the clinic in Guadalajara to see a specialist.
I do not have IMSS so cannot confirm first hand. I'm on two chat groups in Jocotopec so will post any info I get there.

If you go to the IMSS Jocotopec please read this article on Chapala.com about free legal representation: http://www.chapala.com/webboard/index.php?showtopic=31820

This would appear to confirm the information which I received from An IMSS representative. If you can't get it one place go to another and present your IMSS card.

Re: IMSS Jocotopec problems
It would appear that this lawsuit is frivolous. All requests for information are met with a failure to respond appropriately. Case closed.

Re: IMSS Jocotopec problems
Further to my post about the lawsuit being frivolous I came across a fascinating post by a local resident who has the facts. As I suspected this did not pass even the slightest sniff test.

Hope this answers your questions Albert.

Re: IMSS Jocotopec problems
I was in the Joco IMSS clinic today and here is what I found out.
The Pharmacy is not closed permanently, but instead closed permanently in the mornings opening at 2pm. Permanent was a bad choice of wording I would say. The person, whoever it was, did a bad job of translating the sign on the pharmacy glass.
I then sat down with Jorge in the admin office and there was no denial that there is a problem, although he wouldn't say anything directly against anyone. He confirmed that the lady from Chapala causing all the problems there is now working between Chapala and Jocotepec. She was in Joco from Oct. 16th to the end of the month and is now back in Chapala doing her thing. It is not known when she will be back but I'm suspecting in a couple of weeks and it was confirmed that she would be working between the two clinics. I asked about transferring my IMSS coverage to Tuxcueca and was told that might be a good idea, at least for the time being. I think going under the radar for now is my plan and I'm going to stick to it.

Re: IMSS Jocotopec problems
Good luck Albert - my guess is she has been deployed to cut expenses at the two clinics. Anything outside her radar is a good idea.
Several months ago I took a friend to the IMSS clinic in Chapala and was shocked - huge group of NOBs and Mexicans waiting for service - probably at least 60 people. My previous experience at the Chapala IMSS is when my land lady cut herself badly and I took her to Chapala to get stitched up - we were the only ones there in the middle of the afternoon. It was a 5 room clinic back then and hardly anyone there. My guess is with all the retirees the expenses at the two clinics is way up and she was sent to get them back down again.

Sounds like a very good plan. Mine is to use Tlajomulco in case of emergencies. We only use IMSS for emergencies in any case. As for bad translations and proposed lawsuits, I think we can see just how bad of an idea that would be. Whoever proposed that has more than a few issues, one of which being comprehension.
Good Luck.

Actually the person who proposed the law suit just deleted all the information they posted. If you click on it the comments the original party made are gone.

There might be a good lesson here about gathering topics from one message board or forum and then rebroadcasting to others? Especially true when there is no idea of the credibility of the OP. In this particular case, "The Hobbit" has a long history of irrational and delusional posts!

Now that's good info Neil, real good information we can work with. Known idiots just cant be given any credibility. A lot of us just didn't know about that. Newbies can be sucked in and believe things which could be dangerous to their well being.
