Banamex ATM fraud on the rise
Beware of Banamex ATM machines!
There were three ATM frauds reported in two weeks to - two to Lakesidecrime.com involving Banamex machines. One person's Visa card was depleted. The machines mentioned were at the Farmacia Guadalaara and the other the Banamex machine in Walmart.
My gardener also mentioned to me that two weeks ago he used his Banamex card to get money (did not say which machine) and that he was missing over 2,000 pesos from his account. He was going to Banamex to see about it but was very upset.

Re: Banamex ATM fraud on the rise
Since many credit cards, newer US Passports and other assorted ATM cards are now using RFID technology, the following video is quite educational:

2. Put Two RFID Credit Cards in Your Wallet
When those scanners run into a pair of those little chips, they get confused and the data gets all discombobulated.
3. Put a Piece of Tin Foil in Your Wallet
This has got to be the most interesting idea. It sounds crazy , but the metallic tin foil keeps the RFID scanner from reading your credit card. They also make DataSafe Wallets made of material that blocks the readers. But it’s probably much cheaper to go with the tin foil.
4. Keep An Eye on Your Credit Card Statements
This is something you should be doing no matter what. There are plenty of ways a crook can steal you credit card information and use it to commit identity theft. None of the other three methods are 100% foolproof. But if you notice something is fishing on your credit card statement, you’ll be able to stop the thief before too much more damage is committed. Hopefully your credit card comes with good fraud protection.

Here is a site to purchase a wallet that is hack proof, or shop around there are many people selling these wallets..

Re: Banamex ATM fraud on the rise
I mean to be picky, but tin foil has not be made in many years. It's aluminum foil.
Re: Banamex ATM fraud on the rise
I never travel without my tinfoil or aluminum foil helmet:

Neil, great minds think alike, was just thinking the same thing. Anyhow, we're going to use both the tinfoil plus competing cards tomorrow. Great vid BTW.
Thanks. Forewarned is forearmed.

4.2. Shielding Approaches
With all the privacy and security concerns about contact-less credit cards, employee ID cards, and epassports, several companies commercialise anti-RFID sleeves, envelopes, wallets and other forms
using shielding approaches.
a). The Faraday Cage Approach
Faraday cages are based on the principle that meshes made of certain metals (for example aluminium
foil) provide a natural barrier to radio waves. There are some applications where this low-tech
approach may make sense. For example, e-passport should be kept in a Faraday cage to hamper
unauthorized access to data stored on the RFID-chip. However this method does not offer any
protection when the tag is not within the Faraday cage [19, 22]. Unfortunately, some aluminium foil
does not block RFID but does seriously inhibit it. That is, the RFID Shield does not completely prevent
all RFID transmission but would appear to limit reading to only strong readers at very close distances
