Filling small propane tanks
Years ago to fill up a small propane tank we used to have to drive out past Chapala and turn left up a dusty road to a big propane place to fill our tanks.
Then the Propane place on the caretera just east of Pemex started filling them.
I stopped in yesterday to get a tank filled and the guy told me that they no longer did that and I needed to go to Santa Cruz which I believe is the place we used to go to.
My Spanish is not so great so there is a possibility I misunderstood, maybe they were just out of gas yesterday.
I hope this is just temporary.
Anyone have any insight on this situation?

Re: Filling small propane tanks
Define "small."
We have a small tank for our casita HWH. We swap it out with the propane trucks that carry small tanks on their truck.
If you mean a BBQ grill tank, why not have your grill tied into your main propane tank?

Re: Filling small propane tanks
It is a small tank for a Weber BBQ.
Unfortunately, the main tank is about 200 meters away and it would be impossible to hide the gas line.
It's been much easier to just refill the tank as I have another one for a heater that I can swap out.

I've always gotten mine filled across the Careterra from Scallions.

Yes, that's the place that told me yesterday that they are not doing it anymore.

Has anyone filled small propane tanks lately? Across from Scallions still not available for filling tanks?

Gas Rosa on the Chapala-Mezcala highway just past Greg's Auto Service in east Chapala. Excellent drive through and manned all day.

Thank you so much! This beats the heck out of going to the one located on the scary road out in the boonies east of Chapala.
For those who are located west of Ajijic, it may be easier to go to Jocotepec. Drove right by Gas La Curva today which is on the curve (right hand side) of the highway just before you enter Jocotepec. Just past it, and still going west, is the Oxxo where you turn left to get to the Malecon. Easy in and out as well.

Filled my small tank today. Cost was 165 pesos for 18 Litros. GASROSA for those familiar with Chapala it is just north of Letra CH.

Letra CH is a restaurant. Refer to the map previously posted above by OldWeb. Put your cursor over "Second Picture" and click to get to map.

Re: Filling small propane tanks
Always find it strange that people post on forums asking where something is, without first bothering to Google the name or type it in on Google maps, which in most cases will give them an instant answer.
Typing "Letra CH, Chapala" into Google search instantly brings up their website, complete with map, menu, etc.
