Pizza Pizza (PZA Pizzeria)
Pizza Pizza, Canada's largest Pizza franchiser, has apparently opened in Mexico. Guadalajara and Ajijic. Has anyone seen this new place?

Bob, the address in the article for Ajijic is Hidalgo #227. When I try to go there in google maps, it takes me to that street and # in Riberas. There is also an Hidalgo #227 in Chapala. It appears Ajijic's Calle Hidalgo does not go to that high a number (Hidalgo ends at Seis Esquinas).
I am not the best map reader...maybe someone else can narrow this down?? Or perhaps a bogus address/street number on part of article??
From article, "...announce the opening of the first PZA Pizzeria restaurants in Guadalajara and Ajijic, Mexico, on April 17th. The restaurants are located at Lopez Cotilla 1468 and Hidalgo 227."

Re: Pizza Pizza (PZA Pizzeria)
I'm not amused to see international chains opening up here. We have a number of very fine pizza places owned by local folks who work very hard. We summer in Toronto where Pizza Pizza is huge and very mediocre. We never use them and I will never use them in Ajijic.

I avoid chain restaurants up north, why would I want to see or patronize them in Mexico?
One thing I used to dislike about driving through the US from Mexico to Canada, is that all you can find along the highway are chain restaurants.

Yes, I tried finding that address too. I think I also saw one in SAT however not Ajijic. There are many articles on this topic if you Google it so it's not just one mistaken report. It's very strange.
As for chain restaurants operating in the area......well I believe they have just as much right as anyone else. If the area was already saturated with great pizza they wouldn't open a restaurant. These large businesses spend a lot of money on market research. Dominos and Little Ceasars seem to be doing well and expanding. There are at least two Dominos in the municipality now. These places also provide jobs for younger people just starting out.

I don't want to see them in Ajijic Centro, but no problem if up on the carretera or libramiento.
Feel the same in US small cities where I've lived where they kept out national chains in their central business and/or historic districts.

I can live with that. It would be very different around here without Soriana, AutoZone, Orma, OXXO, 7-11, MovieSpace, Walmart, etc., etc. For those that prefer that, there are always towns without any of these businesses on the other side of the lake.

I always hear this rationalization for chain businesses coming in. Heard it in Canada, too. Meanwhile, the big boys put the little guys out of business.

Re: Pizza Pizza (PZA Pizzeria)
Thats because it is true..........small business is alive and well in this part of Mexico even after, "gasp", Soriana and Walmart opened. We have had Domino's for many years around here yet there are still small pizza restaurants all over the place. Go figure.....eh.

Re: Pizza Pizza (PZA Pizzeria)
I have never heard of the Pizza Pizza chain from Canada since I am from a small town in the US but I always think of pizza pizza as being the slogan from Little Ceasar's. Haha. I wouldn't mind seeing a KFC somewhere in Chapala though or a large decent US style Chinese buffet with 10 tables or more of all you can eat. I have never seen a good Chinese buffet around here nor in Gdl.

I just heard from reliable business person, that the bar that has been vacant for years down from dollar store is going to be a pizza place from Canada....

Re: Pizza Pizza (PZA Pizzeria)
Hmmm.........interesting. That is Hidalgo but the number is 8 not 227. The article indicated it was already open however no one has yet to say they have seen it. If so, that won't be open for many months as there is nothing going on there yet.

Just a matter of time before PIZZA NOVA shows up as well. I remember seeing them in Cuba too!

Re: Pizza Pizza (PZA Pizzeria)
Too funny. They are located in San Antonio Tlayacapan not Ajijic. And, for the cost of that ad, don't you think they could have included a phone number for delivery? And, if they are not going to do delivery, they are dead in the water before even starting out.

And is Traitte going to be able to tell me what ingredients they are out of?

Re: Pizza Pizza (PZA Pizzeria)
When any business gets an order that they can't fulfill, they contact you via Traitte to let you know before they accept your order. Gives you an opportunity to change it, or cancel it.ferret wrote: And is Traitte going to be able to tell me what ingredients they are out of?
