Roasted chicken
We are returning next week with young grandchildren mid afternoon after a long flight and they will be exhausted.
I would like to stop and pick up a roasted chicken with accessories like cole slaw and potato salad etc. for lunch and dinner.
Does dusty chicken sell any extras?
If not who can you recommend?
We'll be going to west Ajijic.
TIA.

Re: Roasted chicken
They have guacamole, salads, tortillas, Spanish rice, some kind of hot dogs and a couple of other dishes. All good.

Re: Roasted chicken
You can get potatoes at some places.
Just finished a tasty meal from Lupita''s in Ajijic (al carbon). Potatoes were soft/smooth. Downtown Ajijic at the carretera and Colon, mas o menos.
Dusty Chicken across from Pemex on the Libramiento, just north of carretera has potatoes, a decent guacamole, etc.).
If kids aren't into al carbon taste, there is El Pechugon for rotis chicken. Potatoes sit below the rotis and are bathed in chicken fat.
Sometimes it's best to buy or make the sides for the purchased chicken. If in Ajijic before 2, get the potato salad and/or cole slaw at Emma's Deli...both are at US flavor profiles.

Re: Roasted chicken
Emma's is a great idea, hopefully we would get there by 2:00.
Is the potato salad and cole slaw pre made as we wouldn't want to have to wait long?
Do they close at 2:00?
Thanks for the help.

Re: Roasted chicken
Emma's closes early...their FB page says 10:30 to 3, but one can never be certain how up-to-date any FB page.
It's fresh enough that both would keep a day (or two) at your home. They'll pack it into take-away containers. It's ready at least by 11.
You could call and pre-order; ensalada de papas por XX people. Ensalada de col. But if you need English speaking, 90% of time they will connect you with owner.
fyi, best bagels!!! Can also order in advance. I use Whatsapp for orders in advance.

Re: Roasted chicken
Getting there by 2 might be a challenge as we land at 11:10 and need to pick up a rental for 7 people.
I love Emma's, my favourite for lunch when I tire of soup of the day elsewhere.

Re: Roasted chicken
They're 2 and 4 and will be flying the red eye so they'll be in bed by 7 and we won't be much later.
Save pizza for another night.
Thanks for the thought though.

You could also stop at the French bakery in the shopping center where Tio Sam is for baked goods the next morning. It’s right next to Pet place, the vet. Excellent pastries.

Note: All the food from Emma's Deli is delicious. Sometimes they have great cheesecake, too.
They are closed Saturdays and Sundays.

Mine wouldn't have. When kids are used to good food, they don't prefer crap food.

Re: Roasted chicken
At that age they like to dictate what they want to eat, but there are some things that are not allowed and fast food is one of them.

You would have to be extremely unlucky not to be out of airport and in rental car before 12:30. From the airport unless the cartel is blocking the road it is only 30 minutes or less to Ajijic . So you should have plenty of time for getting what you want to eat. I vote for dirty chicken with the bakery near by. It will be a quick on the road stop with minimum time and some of the best chicken in Ajijic at a very reasonable price.

Re: Roasted chicken
I hope you are right rafterbr, but have you ever tried installing car seats?
Picking up the luggage could be time consuming while two monkeys terrorize the airport.
Also I booked for a 7 seater SUV, what are my chances of them having the correct one on the lot?
Not my first rodeo.
I've always wanted to try the blue tarp cafe as we used to call it in it's previous location so now is the chance.

Re: Roasted chicken
Thanks all for the advice.
The dusty chicken and extras (guack, salsa, cole slaw, papas and tortilla & chips from Montana) were a huge success.
My 4 year old granddaughter looked up from her plate of food and said "I've never felt so good in my whole life".
The sun was shining and there as a cool breeze.
