Chili Cook Off on back burner

For those wondering whatever happened to the Chili Cook Off.....

We are sad to say that there will be no Mexican National Chili Cook Off in 2023 due to lack of new leadership. Our most important board member Jorge Valencia, booth sales and grounds manager, died in 2022 and my wife and I retired after 16 years on the CCO Board. There is now a group of people meeting to try to set up a 2024 CCO. We need people to work in various positions during this year to reach that goal. Come to LCS at 4 pm on Jan. 26th to get involved. The biggest problems are getting enough volunteers and trying to replace Jorge, who was a vital part of the cook off since the beginning. I would get rid of the "competition" part and rebrand it as Ajijic country fair. The competition part takes a lot of work and volunteers and had become a pretty minor draw for the event.
