CHILI COOK OFF
Has the Chili Cook had its day?
Maybe it was because the challenge presented to get to the site. Why o why choose such a location.
Then a hold up at the entrance table whilst the one person at the struggled to make change and chatter about the weather.
It must 10 years ago since I last attend and I do not recall having to be a mountain goat to get there, and being 10 years older did not help.
My prime reason to attend was to seek out a vendor selling pewter ware. Luckily he was located on the first isle. Their name, Tao Muesbles & Decoration. Seems their store is next to Soriana where Coppel used to be. Boy I wish I had know that before.
Then strolling along the exhibits many of them you could see on the Chapala Malacon or the Ajijic Plaza. I just loved the Drink Coffee , Lose Weight exhibit. I guess there no requirement for proof in advertising.
I then went looking for a Chili Cook Off apron. What rubbish, they look like they were made in some sweat shop in China. The edging, sewing, of the top half is faced outward!
Given that the man hours to stage this event must be huge, and paid over heads not cheap, I wonder if say 100 volunteers sold 10 raffle tickets each at 40 pesos = 40,000pesos , plus sell bowls of chili, would be more efficient way for a fund raising.

Re: CHILI COOK OFF
No I did not. It was still very fun though. The event seemed to be well attended. Being that I do the website and maintain the FB page I expect to get the attendance stats within a day or two.

Yeah, it's all about fun. Good for you.
People that I know that went complained about the hike up to the event from the lower levels of parking. And, apparently, there were no shuttles or carts???
Everyone else enjoyed it and shopped a lot. Never heard anything about the food. . . .lol

I'll never go back unless they change the location.

Re: CHILI COOK OFF
Why?
Someone else said they were upset because no one told them of a dirt road that skirts the parking lot that they could have driven up to the event on . . .

Re: CHILI COOK OFF
I never saw any shuttles going or coming. Why there were all those empty spots down low and then to have to hike up several levels to get to anything struck me as stupid. No thanks. I don't care to work that hard to spend money and I do like to spend money. Everybody I passed on the way up told me it was quite a climb and they were right.

Re: CHILI COOK OFF
We were in the cook off on Saturday. Had a great time but I have to say it was a little confusing at the end. We stayed until most everyone was gone and still were not sure who won. Never did find out who won the judges category.
We hope to be there next year.

Re: CHILI COOK OFF
Went and had a grand time. Very much enjoyed the vendors, and even bought an Ojeda chef's knife. I'll be back.
