Ant poison
I have a small ant problem at my place. Back home I typically whip up a concoction of Borax and confections sugar (50/50) and in a few days all are gone. I cant locate borax here at lake side or any kind of ant eliminating powder. All I can find is "raid" styled sprays. Great to kill what you see but is not a great long term solution.
Any suggestions where I can find borax or another powder typed product?

Re: Ant poison
I had to get mine on Mercado libre. Later on I saw a local confectionary store that sold them. Kids would use it to make plastilina.

Re: Ant poison
It was probably not a confectionary store. It was one of these places like Hobby Lobby.

Re: Ant poison
Here is my surefire recipe. You can get the boric acid at the "dollar store" across from Ajijic Plaza. It is on the east back wall near the spray poisons.
FYI, do not be tempted to make it stronger...if it is too strong they will not take the bait.
Place into 1-cup liquid measuring cup:
1/2 teaspoon boric acid powder
1 1/2 Tablespoons white table sugar
Fill to 2/3 cup line with warm water
Stir to dissolve completely.
Dip half a paper towel folded a few times into roughly a 3 inch square lightly in the liquid and set on kitchen counter or wherever you see the ants. Put excess liquid in fridge to re-use. The paper towel will dry out over night. Discard and repeat with new towel and saved liquid until you see no ants. Usually just one single day (put out in morning and they're gone by late afternoon). Liquid can be kept refrigerated for future use for at least a few months.

good stuff. Thanks for the recipe. I'll try it assuming I find the correct "dollar store". Haven't used mercado libre yet either, but I guess there is always a first time.

"Dollar store" is on south side of Ajijic plaza on Calle Parroquia just a few doors east of BBVA/Bancomer.

Borax
I use the same remedy. I have found borax at Pancho's.

You can get boric acid at every hardware store as well.
