I'm interested in this also. There is some artful work being done with concrete now.

If you are serious about having a concrete counter top, talk to someone who already has one to see if they like it. I wanted concrete kitchen counter tops for our apartments, and lucky for me, met a lady who had them in her kitchen. When I saw hers, I loved it. They were stunning and very chic. The kitchen counters had been installed in the home before they bought the house. Initially, she loved the look, the feel and, what she thought at the time, easy care. Not so. It has to be re surface and re stained once a year. Plus, it's hard to keep sanitary with teeny tiny little pot holes that are there from the beginning. Just because of the medium, and those that occur over time from use. I'm glad we didn't do concrete counters in our apartments. What I did use was 12 x 12 ceramic floor tiles. Less expensive than talavera or granite. The floor tiles come in a variety of color and styles. A friend just installed a white floor tiles for her kitchen counter that looks gorgeous!
Just my 2 centavos worth.

This is one of those issues where one would find many likes and dislikes. My preference is functionality then appearance. Don’t care for cement for the same reason that CG mentioned, but I don’t care for granite because it easily chips dishes and it is so trendy it will date itself. Corian is a soft surface but doesn’t take heat well, however with a little effort it can look new again. Formica was the perfect surface but looks cheap, it did and still does, but looking better. To each there own.

This is the way they built mine. Not fancy with etched designs but easy to clean and no grout to keep clean

Very nice.... you wired the room for everything as well... ( overhead microwave ) that will finish to a very nice kitchen...

I recently had an electrician at the house... It appears Mexican household wiring is catching up quickly to NOB Standards...

NOB lots of people choose Acrylic over Marble or Stone as its less maintenance... I believe in Mexico cement would be the way to go...

When in Rome....

My kitchen counters

My only question would be, will the countertops crack because they are cement/granito?

Sparks, thanks for the link.
I have found someone and they would use white concrete with marmalino.
The white concrete can be tinted. He has not mentioned granito and it would certainly add interest.
I'll probably go for it since it can always be tiled, no?

Thanks to everyone who has responded to this thread!

I did some closet shelves with a yellow tint and they don't look bad .... but be carefull. Had to use a lot of color for it to show

Yes you can tile over but need to rough it up for a sticking surface
