RMC- Riberas Medical Center
Not sure where to begin.
I ended up at RMC because a specialist who was recommended to me has privileges there and at SATH (my preferred hospital by far), but was able to see me yesterday and set up today's appt. with another specialist who works out of RMC.
The "room" they put me in was not a room...it was a hallway with curtains on both sides open to public areas. Remember when you were young & poor and stayed at cheap motels where the shower curtain didn't run the length of the tub...yeah, welcome to RMC. Except these curtains at RMC connected you to the rest of the hospital. NO privacy at all and when I complained about it (as I was being asked to remove all clothing above my waist), I was told that it was the only 'room' that had the equipment needed for my test.
On the staff...hoping this was the B-Team because if this was their best, they really sucked. The younger ones chit-chatted non-stop and the doctor didn't give a crap that they did. They dropped things (and giggled about it), couldn't find a vein (no one ever has this problem, I am the Mother Lode of veins) and were just plain clunky moving around the bed and equipment; a few seemed to be unfamiliar with the equipment. Others mostly men, used my "room" as a shortcut between the ER and the corridor on the other side of it. Neither the doctor nor the staff asked them not to do this, even after I continued to complain.
The specialist was an egotist who I'm sure thought the same of me, but I resented being put in a public ward when not paying IMSS rates and told him so. I don't think this Tapatío doctor was used to getting grief from a patient, let alone an expat.
The test was supposed to take an hour. They were 20 minutes late getting me started. Then halfway through--equipment failure. An interminable wait while they tried to scrounge around the hospital for another set of electrodes--though they did try to fix the broken one by rubbing it against their car keys They finally jerry-rigged the machine; the one hour test lasted over 2 hours all the while naked from the waist up with a never ending parade through my 'room.'
Yes I should have left...I asked twice whether I could come back soon as in Monday...no, this GDL specialist only comes to RMC on Saturdays. I did not want to lose a week in getting the results for piece of mind, or to move ahead with treatment, depending on the result.
Oh, the bill. When I handed them my cc they said if I used a cc they would add 16% to the tab. I assume that is the IVA. And IVA should be charged whether I pay with cash or credit...something fishy there it seems.
I have had 2 operations at San Antonio Hospital in the past year and have had other tests and treatments there. There is NO comparison between these two hospitals.
Avoid RMC; I will never set foot in there again.

No bargain. Going rate for local hospitals. And I don't mind paying a 'convenience' mark-up over going to Guadalajara. But the service and facilities at RMC leave too much to be desired.

I have had MRIs at both hospitals. The experience was much better at Riberas than at San Antonio. MUch more professional. Once was enough at the San Antonio Hospital. Since then I have returned to the Riberas hospital and again they were very professional. Maybe you had an attitude problem.

Cedros/Cypress, you're a guy. If you can't feel any empathy towards me, try taking the situation I described and substitute yourself, naked from the waist down during that incident.

Oh, a tough guy, how precious.
Sad you have no empathy for others.
How would you feel if it was your wife, your mother, your sister or daughter??

I have seen the same with family in a hospital. Nudity is not unusual in hospitals. Not tough just realistic. Sorry you get upset so easily. You are making a mountain out of a mole hill.

What BisbeeGal posted is a description of her experience at that location. In other words, we have been vividly shown what we would not like to experience ourselves, and there is no need to do so. The San Antonio Hospital treats its clients with respect and professionalism. Wouldn't any reasonable person prefer that?

How incredibly rude and superior. Just because you had a different experience doesn't negate someone else's. It's possible to simply state that you had a better experience there than elsewhere without victim-blaming.
It's like that passive-aggresive phrase I hate when someone doesn't like the advice or response they were given- "Sorry you're having a bad day".
I'd say you're the one with the attitude problem.

Getting up & walking out: I did that once with a dentist referral in Calif. Clearly no one had ever put this dickhead in his place - I walked out as I couldn't get answers to my questions vs him just doing his thing. It was such a strong visceral response to a Narcissist, I never forgot. Unless care is compassionate, there's never a good ending.

His office was in a small ranch house a few blocks from where I lived. The whole neighborhood used to be orchards, but many of the trees were cut down as the area became residential. But there were still a lot of fruit trees around- pears, apples, plums, cherries. When the fruit was dropping, if I saw it just rotting on the ground, I'd ask the home owner if they wanted their fruit, if not, I'd pick some- I had 3 kids to feed and I did a lot of canning.
Walking down the back alley behind this Doc's office one day, i saw the apple tree was just dropping apples, so I went in and asked him if I could have some.
He answered, a haughty look on his face, " They're crabapples".
I answered, "No, they aren't crabapples, they're just quite small because that tree hasn't been pruned for years. I'd just make applesauce with them"
He repeated, "They're crabapples."
"Okay, can I have the crabapples, then?"

Crabapple trees are great landscaping trees and I have 6 of them. The real crabapple tree which makes fruit is hard to find. I ordered one but it died on me. They make great jelly. I'll try again next year with 2. They are also great pollinators for other apple trees.
