Ribera Medical Center, what's up?? Empty Ribera Medical Center, what's up??

Post by Jubilacion Sat Jul 24, 2021 12:34 pm

I pass RMC regularly as many of you do too, but I can't really find any reviews (just a few on Google) or know anyone who has used the facility. Does any one have direct experience at this Hospital/Clinic? What's up?

Muchas Gracias

Yes, I've experienced it within the last few months.  I broke three fingers in a fall and since my Quality Care orthopedic surgeon wasn't there that day, I went to the SAT hospital's "traumatologist". The recommended treatment involved entering the hospital system, having general anesthesia for surgery and finally going to the physical therapists there. Since I'm past the age where such anesthesia is safe and I can't get affordable health insurance, my medical costs are out of pocket. I persuaded the doctor to treat my injury the "old fashioned way", with a local anesthetic, cast and follow up self care "physical therapy". This worked and my hand is functional.

I can't complain of the treatment I received, but I do question the organization's apparent policy of recommending the most expensive ways to treat patients' problems.

I'm with you, Gringal. Far too often specialists here recommend outrageous solutions for the simplest of problems. I have a bit of calcium growing on a bone on a big toe, and in the old days, the GP would cut it out and bandage it. Here, the foot specialist want $6500p with X-rays, a special boot, and a 3-month regime of post-op therapy.

It is not clear which hospital you went to? .....San Antonio Hospital or Ribera Medical Center, both hospitals are located in SAT.

I believe the RMC does a lot of cosmetic procedures.

I should have been clearer. I went to the San Antonio Hospital on the main road.

SA Hospital is gouging patients. I refuse to deal with them. I like Quality Care docs though.

Yep, like most medical services around here they are charging the gringo prices. Best to shop around the hospitals in Guadalajara if time permits.
