Cocinart
First time indoors there since December 2021.
Always good, love their patio. It was a busy lunchtime, but sufficient staff to handle it.
Eggcellent Eggs Benedict (as always...best hollandaise in town). A perfectly chilled gazpacho for a warm afternoon. Tab for those 2 items plus 1 house wine and 1 agua mineral was 270.
A word about current prices at Cocinart that also applies to most eateries.
I don't generally memorize prices, but a few things that we order a lot, stick in my brain. Prior to the pandemic, Eggs Benedict were 90p...today it was 110p. The Daily Soup had been 60p, today it was 80p. House wine was 40, now 45. This is by no means a complaint, but the acknowledgment/proof of worldwide inflation.
About a 25% increase on average; noticed similar increases at other places. A heads-up for those of you who haven't been out to eat for awhile.
fyi, even though Cocinart only opens early (10AM) on Sundays, you can order any of their breakfast/brunch items until 2PM any day of week (Wed-Sat they open at 12).
We have also noticed that many of our previously favorite restaurant waitstaff, are gone. Hopefully on to bigger and better things, but a little sad to not see the same familiar faces.

One of our favorite restaurants. Consistently good food, prices are in line with other restaurants if not cheaper. Their specials for the day are very good and they have a daily cheaper menu which is well priced. We like to eat inside as patio has to much sun.

One of their weekly specials thru this Sunday (Apr. 3rd) is lamb sirloin. Tender and tasty, a good-sized portion. Comes with real mashed potatoes and a hefty amount of lamb gravy. Mmmmmm....good!
btw, Cocinart is now serving Heineken 00.0 (sin alcohol). The tastiest of non-alcoholic beers.

That Heineken 00 is the best on non-alcoholic beer and I think I’ve tried most of them.

fyi, last night at Tango they had Corona Zero on menu but when we ordered it, they were out. Then offered us Heineken Zero, which isn't on their menu.
I like this trend of cervezas sin alcohol!

Have you tasted Corona non-alcoholic? Any good? I haven’t.
Love the Heineken 00.

Tried the Corona Zero once and it's drinkable, very light tasting. Prefer the Heineken Zero for a stronger beer flavor.

Sounds like Shandy's will be back in my life soon. Equal parts of Heineken 00 and diet Ginger Ale. Turn up the heat!

I’ve noticed the 00 is available easily in most Oxxos and almost sold out in a couple places.

Yes the Heineken Zero is sometimes out at of stock, especially 6 packs of cans. This past week all I saw were bottles at a few stores.

Today was my first meal sitting in a restaurant in a month. Picked Cocinart as I was jonesing for a Hamburgesa de Cordero. Alas, they were out of lamb burgers!
Waiter offered me Cordero Empanizada (breaded lamb). OK, I'll bite.
Well, I have had:
CFS, Chicken Fried Steak
CFC, Chicken Fried Chicken
But this was a delicious first
CFL, Chicken Fried Lamb
The gravy was to die for and the lamb tender. Nice papas puree.

STOP! Bisbee your making my mouth water. Two weeks to go before we arrive at Lakeside. We liked Cocinart and are glad to hear they still have the same quality as we experienced 6 years ago.
I know you guys used to have swarms to help struggling restaurants pre-Covid. Are you at a point that you would be thinking about doing them again?

Re: Cocinart
Great idea Roy. We haven't had one in about 4 or 5 years. Maybe in September some time. If you have any suggestions let us know.

Any place that is not hot (spicey). As long as they have some non spicey selections on the menu we are good.

Re: Cocinart
Tis the season. Chiles En Nogada tradionally sold in September for Día de Independencia, I got an early one at Cocinart today...stellar! I made them once....very labor intensive as filling is finely minced nuts and dried fruits, with ground beef or pork. Sauce is creamy walnut, topped with fresh pomegranate seeds.

Trout. I am guessing it is from the hatchery in Mazamitla; years ago I bought at SL (frozen) and have also had at Gosha's and was told that was the source.

Re: Cocinart
It's not that we haven't been since my last post, but we get in a rut and get the same old same old, so I don't always mention the meal.
But today the Pescado del Dia was terrific....flounder in a Mediterranean sauce of tomatoes, capers and olives. Ordered thinking it was a "light" lunch, but in addition to the very good rice, it came with a stack of perfectly cooked (read: soft) eggplant parm. After tasting how good the eggplant was, I decided to bring it home for a separate meal, since the fish portion was plenty (two fillets atop each other).
The other meal was what remains the best burger in town, their hamburguesa de cordero (lamb), something one (or both) of us almost always orders.
Cocinart has kept its prices down....170p for the fish dish; 150p for the substantial lamb burger; 50p for a drinkable house white.
