- After the landslides that occurred on October 5, residents of La Canacinta in Ajijic pointed out that the subdivisions at the foot of the hill aggravate the problem of landslides. The accusations were made to the municipal president of Chapala, the PAN member Alejandro Aguirre Curiel, on his tour of the areas affected by the recent landslide, last Friday, October 8, who assured that he will take action on the matter. About the only thing they can do is to go up the mountain during the rainy season and keep the arroyos clear of debris.

They can also decree that developments cannot change the natural flow of water. That is what happened in the Los Albrijes development as was reported in last week's Guadalajara Reporter newspaper.
Yes, Los Albrijes created a channel but re-directed the flow to their channel. Nature didn't listen.
