Covid Test To Fly To The US
Hi all,
This is what I understand.
1. To board a plane in GDL to the US, one needs to show his negative antigen test done within 72 hrs.
2. The 2 cheapest places for the antigen test nearby are at Walmart and Soriana.
Walmart charges $190 pesos but the results are floppy.
Soriana charges $489 Pesos and seems reliable.
Does anyone has experienced/heard about how it goes with the antigen tests at these 2 places?
Would appreciate your info.
Gracias

Re: Covid Test To Fly To The US
We've used Soriana twice with excellent service, turnaround time.
If you go to Soriana, I'd recommend you swing by the trailer in their parking lot to make sure they are open. Then go inside Soriana and pay for the test at any register. Take your receipt to the testing trailer. Make sure you have your passport with you.
btw, it's not 72 hours, it's 3 days before flight day. From CDC site, Why does the Order specify 3 days rather than 72 hours? What is considered 3 days?
The 3-day period is the 3 days before the flight’s departure. The Order uses a 3-day timeframe instead of 72 hours to provide more flexibility to the traveler. By using a 3-day window, test validity does not depend on the time of the flight or the time of day that the test was administered.
For example, if a passenger’s flight is at 1pm on a Friday, the passenger could board with a negative test that was taken any time on the prior Tuesday or after.

With respect to the Soriana site, go early enough in the day so that if you don't receive your results by e-mail, you have time to return and pick them up in person. We have had to do that twice.
And don't forget to access the Vuela Seguro website (from the Mexican government), register, and get your QR code not more than 12 hours before you fly.

Your message is nice and clear! Thank you for your chipping in.
Your first paragraph helps facilitate the good process how to do the test at Soriana.
Your second one and the cited example help clarify the CDC 3-day period prior to the departure day. My simple mind did NOT catch that in the first place.
Thank you much and have a good day.

Thank you, NoVaDamer.
Your additional advice is valuable to prevent any un-expected things from happening to the test results.
When you say "
... to pick them up in person.
" do you mean the hard copy of the test results? And ... Which form do you like, BTW, the hard copy one or the email one? Also, do you still have the link of the Vuela Seguro website? Please post it.
Thank you for your help and have a good day.

Re: Covid Test To Fly To The US
I prefer to have the results e-mailed to me, but on two occasions I was tested at Soriana and did not have the results back by mid-afternoon (tested in mid-morning, promised results by noon-ish) so I went back to the site and the nice nurse there printed them out for me, then later e-mailed them to me. So if you get tested early enough, you have the option to go back in person.

For sure Mon. - Sat., not sure about Sunday.
They open at 8, but best to drive by the trailer to make sure they are open before going inside the store to pay. Mostly it's just one gal working, she's efficient but takes her awhile to set up the site.
Last month when there was a spike in local Covid cases, I was told there were times they had to shut because they ran out of test supplies/kits.
