Latest on border crossings by car
Is a COVID test required to cross over/back from Mexico.
I have a temporal visa and have to go to the US for a quick trip soon.
Thank you.

If you are flying, the airline probably requires it. I certainly hope they do. Check with them and with the US govt site. A public forum isn't the place to check the requirements.

The title of the thread is "LATEST ON BORDER CROSSINGS BY CAR". Airlines probably don´t normally advise on land crossings.

Friends who flew back yesterday on Delta were not asked for any covid related documentation.

I was accessing this forum on my phone and the title of the thread wasn't complete. It says "Latest on border". It wasn't that I didn't read the title.
Not sure why longer titles don't appear in full when logged in on the phone.

Re: Latest on border crossings by car
I had heard from an immigration lawyer that Canadian Snowbirds wishing to drive home were being turned back at the US/Mexico border, and the restrictions were in place until April 21. That was due to 'non-essential travel' and was 3 weeks ago though. Any new news?

Canada doesn't and can't deny reentry to Canadian citizens, so you misunderstood. That they can't just cross the border in their RV and drive home is true, as far as I'm aware. They would have to go into quarantine when they arrive at the border, just like everyone else.

Read hbdoss1' post again mudgirl. He/she didn't say they were being turned back at the Canadian border.

3 weeks ago, there were no requirements. We had friends cross yesterday, Canadian and American, no questions.

Dang, I did it twice on this thread. I hang my head in shame.
Well, I guess that's what the snowbirds get for ignoring the no essential travel directives and driving through the US to Mexico for a warm holiday in the midst of a pandemic. My heart does not bleed for them. Although travelling and cooking in your own rig is probably the safest way to travel.

Thanks Desafinada. Was the mentioned Xing at Nogales or Laredo, and would you think that there'd be a difference one to another? One can never assume standards. ...And thanks too to Ferret; We were here on a Dr.'s recommendation, but wanted to anticipate issues despite that.

The crossing was one of the smaller other TX crossings, maybe Brownsville. I'm not sure.

I crossed at Columbia, no problem. Was not asked about COVID just how I liked living in MX. Easy peasy.

Re: Latest on border crossings by car
Just crossed at Laredo Bridge 2. Asked where we came from, why, where were we going, why and did we own our Jalisco plated car. US passports for both and no other questions. We were happy to have less than an hour wait to get to that point.
