That looks great Bob. If you don't mind I will check back with you in a month and see how things are going with it/how the dogs like it etc. That may be the way I go. I just can't keep grass growing well in my little backyard.

Does the "vermiculite/cement" combo allow drainage? Or, if not, where does the dog pee go?

Re: Outdoor artificial turf
What CB has described is called lightweight concrete. What you are describing is called permeable concrete. Used extensively now in the USA, should be the standard Lakeside too, but it is not.

Re: Outdoor artificial turf
It is permeable. The water soaks right through. It can be hosed down every few days to wash away the pee. The dogs love it. No more peeing or pooping on the walkway.

Re: Outdoor artificial turf
Fabulous!!!
I have two mats (each 2x4) just sitting on the flagstone courtyard. They are sitting on the slight slope that drains out under the garage door to the street. I wash them down every couple of days as well but pick up poop and bag it every day. Ginny is fastidious and will only go pee and poo on the mats. Cora could care less... but she was born and raised in a dog run with only solid concrete underneath. We got her when she was three months old but it has proved to be impossible to change her habits. No bigee because she has never pooped or peed in the house... not ever and she is now 7. I'm grateful for that. Funny, same thing with the Belgian Malinois we had previously.

Looks nice and I'm sure you are pleased. BUT, like you said it's expensive. $3,xxx Canadian for 15 meters square ain't chump change, eh?

Re: Outdoor artificial turf
Bob, After having this for almost a year - are you still happy with it? I am at my wit's end trying to keep my grass alive in all the shade so think I will need to bite the bullet. TIA

Re: Outdoor artificial turf
It has actually been almost two years and it still looks like the day it was installed. Yes, I am pleased with it.
