Dollar dropping
The dollar index has been dropping for a while and will probably continue because of all the money printing it is doing. When this happens the peso strengthens but I don’t see much of that. Maybe Mexico is also printing muchos pesos.

Dollar index is the value it is given when compared all the other world currencies.

Re: Dollar dropping
Canadian dollar has risen against the USD the past couple of days. Swiss frank has also risen. Probably many others too. CAD is trading at 16.67 pesos. That's pretty high for the loony.

Re: Dollar dropping
I suggest anyone heavily invested in equities should take some time to review and adjust their investment portfolio now. Â I remember all too well what happened in the latter half of 2007. Â My friends who cashed out in panic mode have never recovered financially. Â We held the course but it took three years to get back to where we were prior to the crash. Â Some lean times. Â
Printing more paper money has never resolved the core problems of the USA economy. Â And the Americans cannot handle the truth.

Re: Dollar dropping
I've only looked at the US dollar to peso spot rate, wondering when it would be time to wire money south and it has been 22 something to 1 for quite some time. And yes it was a high 22. something to one right now it is 1 Dollar = 22.2702 Pesos which is a few centavos lower.
I guess I will have to watch more closely

Re: Dollar dropping
We continue seeing gold and silver having huge movements to the upside with the dollar index falling. I believe the peso is bound to a certain trade range set by trade agreement. Trump cannot print enough money to prop up the markets and still maintain the value of the dollar. Somethings gotta give

Re: Dollar dropping
They should let the USD drop. It will make their exports more desirable. The USD was 1 to 11.5 against the peso not that long ago (2011ish).

It seems the dollar index is taking another leg down. 90.70 this AM.
This should keep the peso strong. 1x19.89.

These are just trends but it seems the dollar is loosing value and the peso is maintaining its strength.

Re: Dollar dropping
The dollar is always falling: I bought a brand new VW automobile for $1299 USD, at a dealership, back in 1959. Five years earlier, I bought a 24 year old Plymouth, a 1931 sedan, in perfect running order, for only $25 USD. The dollar isn't worth crap now! Pocket change is now worthless, and has been for over 50 years, since it no longer contains silver. Even the penny has been devalued. What desperation?

Re: Dollar dropping
For many years it was 12.50 pesos to the dollar. I was working in Guadalajara when the bottom fell out on the peso(around 1976?)
We panicked and went back to live NOB.

Re: Dollar dropping
In this case, the peso is strengthening due to a rise in the price of oil, which is one of the three main sources of income to Mexico: oil, tourism and remittances from people working abroad. The U.S. dollar remains the world's reserve currency and will be the last to fail.

Dollar dipped below 90 this am. This is the lowest it’s been in 3 years. Peso is at 18.40 to a dollar.

Re: Dollar dropping
In April the dollar index was about 103 so the trend is down. That means that imported items are starting to cost more and we’ll start seeing more inflation. With a weaker dollar Mexico will enjoy a better dollar/peso ratio. What you want to do with this info is up to you.

Re: Dollar dropping
I still don't know if I am paying 18.40 to buy pesos, or getting 18.40 when I sell/trade them in. That's important.
