Here's a short article with a video about current state of expat living Lakeside. Neither all roses nor all black clouds.

Nice video. Thanks for posting. This is home. Period. I can control my environment and I take precautions when going out. Sunshine, fresh air, a beautiful garden and temperate weather. Everything I need is within 10 minutes including groceries, hospitals, gas station, vet and Oxxo to pay bills. Good internet for communications.
I miss going out with friends for lunch but it's no biggee.

Couldn´t agree more!  We have more chance of having a normal, better life here than just about any place I can think of.

Nice video although I can't understand where all these videos and news articles get the number of 20,000 expats. Maybe at the peak of snowbird season but certainly not year round. Maybe 7,000 permanent residents.

I wondered where they got that 20K number. That seemed way to high.

Probably the same place as the 'second best climate in the world' came from.... whole cloth.

I read this article this morning in the Ottawa Citizen. Spot on! Except that I already am living in my 15 minute neighbourhood with great people and a way better climate.

Good article, and about time. I concluded long ago that a "15 minute neighborhood" was best for retirement years, although much of my life I preferred living "way out" in the country, which of course required a lot of driving for needs.
