Clear Coat
Just picked up a new car on Friday. It has a clear coat finish.
Does it make sense to have the finish hard waxed or is that a waste?
TIA

Re: Clear Coat
I would say the manufacturers today are using some pretty advanced clear coats. I would only use the wax if you like the look of water droplets beading up. The coating should last many years.

Re: Clear Coat
I've never waxed mine, and after 14 years, it is still remarkably shiny looking when washed. I get all kinds of conflicting advice from friends and from the Internet... but I've never waxed a car that I bought new. My personal feeling (NOT an expert on automotive paint) is that waxing is going to degrade the clearcoat over time.

Re: Clear Coat
We just installed a new Cato toilet. It is shiny. But I have read that newer toilets have a clear coat to help prevent mineral build up. You must not use a pumice stone, or wet/dry sandpaper. It will remove the coating and you will have to start dealing with buildup. So TOB has started a fascinating thread on earwax, while I am starting one here about toilets. Humor is a must in senior years!

Re: Clear Coat
I guess clear coating the inside of ears is out of the question.
