Monday market in Chapala
Is it open again? If so, is it only food items or everything?

Yes, it's open...at least for food items. We've been getting some great dishes from Martine; right inside the door. Quiches, pot pies and outstanding scones. Makes eating ta home easier.

The Monday Market, I assume is the tianguis, and yes it is partially open like Ajijic.
There is a Monday Market in San Antonio Tlayacapan, in the Sunrise Restaurant, but is almost all prepared and other food items.

Yes, I am referring to the Monday market in the Sunrise Restaurant in San Antonio. At least one vendor, Deena Hafker, is selling home grown veggies there.

I've always thought the tianguis in Chapala was call the "tianguis". The market at Sunrise Restaurant was called the "Monday Market".

You can think that alright but many people call the "tianguis" the "Monday market".
Bob asked about Chapala on Mondays and gringal gave him info on SAT.
Differetnt towns, different kinds of markets.

Re: Monday market in Chapala
A tianguis is basically a street market, AFAIK. That is a major distinction.

Perhaps you might need to get out more, Lakeside7?
CB, Chapala tianguis is a great place to get men's clothes! I used to go with a friend from Joco and he always came back with a stack if cargo shorts and pants as well as a stack of t-shirts. Alicia has great women's clothes, never noticed men's but she may well have them. Her prices, however will be higher than the tianguis for sure.
Bob, good clothes at the north end of the tianguis.

Re: Monday market in Chapala
I've shopped there and been very happy with the styles and durability of the clothing. Go to the middle of restaurant row and look across the street. There's a green area and parking. The shop itself on the street is small, but they have a large storage building on the same premises. Very little English spoken but they do well with those of us semi-bilingual who guess and hope for understanding. Very reasonable prices, though probably higher than the tiangus.

Re: Monday market in Chapala
So to summarize, the Monday tianguis is open but not the clothing vendors?

He's popular, as are most with the good stuff. We get there at 10:00 when he opens. One favorite is the blueberry scones.

Don´t know for sure, just that my neighbor said they weren´t up to full throttle yet. I´ll try to find out what´s missing if they know.

More good news, ready or not: We've been buying the quiche Lorraine and the chicken pot pies. Both are the best we've found. The chicken pot pies are stuffed with....chicken!
