Large Narco Lab found in Jocotepec
http://www.informador.com.mx/jalisco/2011/322961/6/aseguran-un-narcolaboratorio-de-grandes-dimensiones-en-jocotepec.htm
18 year old was left in charge. Surprise!
I was saying to my husband earlier this week that you'd think the narcos would have large sophisticated labs. Most of the time it's a hole in the wall or out in the sticks, tarp and few barrels. Guess I should be cautious of what I "wish" for, eyyyyy? He said that narcos don't care how it's prepared, they spend their money on themselves. Doesn't say where in Joco but none the less, it's been discovered.

Re: Large Narco Lab found in Jocotepec
From what I saw of the aftermath of a Federal raid on a meth lab on a farm on the Oregon Coast, it doesn't take a very big or sophisticated lab to turn out large quantities of meth. The one I saw could crank out $5M per week.

If you can read Spanish you would know that the young fellow guarding the lab was from Jocotepec, the lab itself was in San Christobal.

San Cristobal Zapotitlán is located in the Municipality of Jocotepec - so still Jocotepec (but not centro)

i'm not the only one that can't read. Several Mexicans are asking in the comments below where it is. One even asks if they're afraid to say :)

Here is the link to a map - ways out from centro Joco but still considered part of the Joco municipality - http://www.maplandia.com/mexico/jalisco/laguna-chapala/san-cristobal-zapotitlan/Chapalagringa wrote:i'm not the only one that can't read. Sometimes these labs are set up in motorhomes so they can travel around and not be in the same spot twice while cooking.

I have seen that show and love it. They have found a few of those same set-ups NOB. I guess the show gets their ideas from actual events.
Re: Large Narco Lab found in Jocotepec
I'm sure they do...nothing is stranger than real life.
We're watching season 4 now...so far it's a lot slower than the previous three seasons...but we've only watched 3 episodes.

Re: Large Narco Lab found in Jocotepec
No Kidding! Back on 8/30, they raided a gun store in Deming, New Mexico (about 30 miles from the border):
http://www.abqjournal.com/main/2011/08/30/abqnewsseeker/federal-agents-raid-gun-store-near-deming.html
In our Saturday paper, they detailed the inventory from the raid: 1200 guns, 2M rounds of ammo, and other assorted items.
I hope they make a real example out of this family!

The gun shop is less than 30 miles from the border town of Columbus, whose mayor, police chief and a town trust were caught in federal gun smuggling sting in March. All three have since pleaded guilty to participating in a ring that smuggled some 200 guns across the border. A spokeswoman for Gonzales, however, said the cases were unrelated.

I found the related story interesting.... this shows what this kind of money does when it comes to corruption and the authorities who are supposed to be finding solutions and fighting the problems...
It's not just the mexican police who have corruption problems!!

No kidding! As Gringal says "follow the money".
Speaking of "money"...can we spell it "mony"...and then it would really be a four letter word and all that it connotes.

I wish I could take credit for the "Follow the money" phrase........I've no idea where it originated, but I've noticed that where you see things going amok........it generally works that way.

Thanks for stepping up-front, gave me the incentive to look further and as far as I can tell and my collections of posts, it was “AmyLee” and a post about her father-in-laws statement. WOW. History is just so reveling. No?

Here's what I found:
"“Follow the money,” was the memorable quote from All the President’s Men. Deep Throat advised Bob Woodward that the key to understanding the Watergate mystery was the money. If you follow the money trail of financial contributions in this year’s presidential campaign, it is clear that the media is placing bets on John Kerry’s steed."

I was only looking for those on message boards that brought this to their attention. (Not all care about movies) Yes it did originate elsewhere but at what level does this become important to others? To me it’s more about the message, than the messenger. My curiosity is why you have this dislike for the message at this level?

Hocks:
The interesting thing about the case of the Columbus city officials is that every single one of them has plead guilty. That is just plain un-American! More fun to waste the taxpayers' money by having an extended costly trial.
In the most recent case, during a hearing yesterday, all parties were denied bail even though the 19 year old had been promised some sort of bail arrangement to give live with the grandparents. It is about time they start making an example out of these greedy SOB's!

Re: Large Narco Lab found in Jocotepec
Actually one of the reasons given for denying the 19 year old bail is that they had him on tape inquiring as to the availability of counterfeit Mexican Passports. They have no idea if he got connected or not.
As for the Columbus, all are still waiting for sentencing under agreed upon plea deals. The possible sentencing ranged from three years to sixty-five years depending on the charges and evidence collected.
