Some of the figures are probably off.. in China we now know that they reported 3 000+ death and in the same period they sold 60 000 urns.. How many of the 60 000 death could be attributed to corona?.. That is the question..

Well with 1.3 billion people they probably have 1000 people die per day from other causes too.

yes but the 3000 is way too low.and they are not 1 billion where the virus hit.China ia a bg place..

To save face which is enormously important in China... and in Mexico.

I think the stats in many countries are simply due to inaccurate reporting and the inability to effectively test every single pt and dead body. Not so much due to a desire to hide or decrease the totals. I don't put much stock in any gov statistic reporting anyway. On any subject.

The saying goes: "There are lies, damn lies and statistics".

CBOb as Ferret says saving face in China is very important.. Their figures make no sense.

But there are other large population countries with no where near the numbers the US has. Are they all lying to save face?

They're lying, because it's better to make something up than to say, "we have no clue.".

Russia is another weirdone but then again it is very large so who knows.. My cousin just married someone from Russia and his new wife had to go back to Russia to get papers for her vsa in France , they do have covirus there too but you do not hear much about it ..

Russia´s density is about 25 people per sq. mile, lot of room for social distancing.
