Local Immigration Office Statistics for Chapala and Death records
I am working on gathering statistical information and made a request to immigration to get information on how many total immigration files they work on per year at the local Chapala office and of that number how many are for Americans, here are the results:
Year / Total / Americans
2012 / 5,634 / 3,498 (62.1%)
2013 / 5,147 / 3,214 (62.4%)
2014 / 2,775 / 1,779 (64.1%)
2015 / 2,428 / 1,631 (67.2%)
2016 / 2,250 / 1,534 (68.2%)
2016 Resident Data (Cards issued in all Jalisco, not just Chapala)
Residentes Temporales: 7,962
Residentes Permanentes: 2,897
Also have been gathering death information, not all local municipalities are in but here are the stats for American and Canadian deaths annually in the municipality of Chapala

Since 2012 the declining number of expats may be the result of the 2012 changes to immigration requirements; especially the financial qualifications needed.
Now, I suspect that the death rate will soon reach a peak, then decline until we are........all gone.

I suspect the apparent decline is due to the number becoming Permanente and thus needed no further processing.

I can make the request but was also looking to find how many people are moving to area versus dying to check net statistics.

Exactly, I also wonder if they keep records of people who arrived to GDL on tourist visas and have never upgraded to a resident visa or checked back out of the country (the illegals). I suspect there is a number of them here. I know at least 10.

It would also be nice to see the actual current number of visa holders based on which country people are from. I suspect your stats would be different than these ones.

I would like to see the average age of these deaths, at almost two per week it would be interesting to see if they are from death by choice, drug abuse or just plan old age. Morbid isn't it?
