Man with memory problems picked up by police in Chapala today
I saw this on Chapala.com and thought some of you who live in Chapala might recognize this man. If I see the photo posted I'll post it here.
If you recognize this man, please call the Chapala Police Station on Ninos Heroes - 765-4444
A American or Canadian man was picked up by the Chapala police wandering the streets of Chapala. He does not know his name, or where he lives. The police came into the American Legion on Wednesday afternoon with the man in their pick-up truck, not knowing what to do with him.
He was treated at Cruz Roja. He is suffering from advanced dementia or Alzheimer's. He is about 5'7" in height, 170-175 pounds, grey hair, blue eyes. His hair is straight and covers most of his head. He has about a week's growth of beard on his face. He has a bruise on one of his legs, but otherwise seems in good health, other than his inability to communicate. He is wearing a white T-shirt with some outlines of boats on the front, and white shorts.
A photo was taken of the man and we hope to post it shortly.
At present, he is still in the custody of the police. There is no place to take him, since Casa de Ancianos has closed.
If you recognize this description, or are missing a friend or a relative, please contact the Chapala Police.

Exactly what I was thinking! Then again, as "impotent" as he is, the cops wouldn't have had to ask.

Obviously the pick up was a mistake:
All is not well!!. Evidently, this gentleman told the Police after the fact that he lived at 52 Hidalgo in Ajijic. so they delivered him there and dropped him off. The man WHO DOES live at 52 Hidalgo took pity on him and let him spend the night. Now they are both back at the Legion and this generous, caring man is buying breakfast. He now says his name is Richard Abblette. DOERS THIS SOUND FAMILIAR TO ANYONE? HELP!! He has no wallet, no confirmable ID, no money and no shoes.
