Heads up on dental
Recently my wife went to Dr Candy for a deep cleaning and was quoted 2000 pesos. She was told it would take two visits, one for upper and one for lower.
After she finished the lower she paid the 2000 pesos. One the second visit she was told it would be 2000 pesos additional for the upper. She paid the additional fee reluctantly and went ahead with the cleaning.
When she finished she was informed that it would be an additional 4000 pesos.
The people behind the counter told her that the price was 2000 pesos for each side as well as upper and lower for a total of 8000 pesos.
She left without paying.

$8000 pesos for a cleaning?? What's a "deep" cleaning?

Re: Heads up on dental
Never heard anyone here offer a deep cleaning. Back "home", a it is actually called "periodontal scaling". One year when I was lucky enough to have a dental plan at my work, I went in for a scaling. They completed one quadrant on my lower right, and said I would have to make three more trips. That one sitting was 90 minutes, and the charge was the complete budget for all my teeth for the year... around $300 CDN over years ago.
Here is an online definition: Scaling is when your dentist removes all the plaque and tartar (hardened plaque) above and below the gumline, making sure to clean all the way down to the bottom of the pocket. Your dentist will then begin root planing, smoothing out your teeth roots to help your gums reattach to your teeth.

Yikes! It's so much easier here to just go every six months and pay 600 pesos each time..at Dr. Haro's office which is considered to be THE most expensive in the area. I consider it to be preventative maintenance.

Even right across the border it’s only 25dls, done by a trained dental hygienist

“She left without paying.”
That’s going to ruin her credit score.

Is this a good time to remind everyone that having healthy gums and teeth is vital for the health of your heart?

Re: Heads up on dental
So you are saying $8000 pesos is the norm for this procedure?

My dentist quoted 1400 pesos for the complete procedure.
The quote by Dr Candy's office was 2000 pesos for what was assumed by my wife to be the complete procedure.
Turned out that was not the case, what was the case was a scam.
