Bike lane on Avenida Hidalgo
So one week they said they may add a bike lane. Next week they started digging up the main street (Hidalgo). When asked nobody has any information, no feasibility studies nor even an idea of what will be done and where. No environmental impact study nor any traffic studies as there already is little parking in the area. A rushed and poorly planned project. There is a wide malecon for bike riders but they maybe put lanes on both sides of the street. The Ajijic bike lanes have been a total disaster. Transit cops asking people to move their cars for the construction and when asked specifics they said they know nothing. Why the rush and secrecy for an ill planned and detrimental project?

Workmen rarely know what's going on in Mexico. Try asking a govt. official like the mayor, or someone on the planning commission or . . .

Would someone inform Intercasa (I'm sorry, but his name escapes me) that some newbie has hijacked his account? This obviously could have only been posted by someone who doesn't know how things work around here.

Re: Bike lane on Avenida Hidalgo
Yeah, well, I've been here awhile, and one puts up with most things. But I sure as shoot have days on that highway that make me wonder "what the hell?!". So now we have this grand plan to repair all the way from Chapala to the west side and god knows here. Wonderful. Meanwhile, there are rim-busting potholes everywhere out on that carretera, and by dint of this declaration, you know the municipality now feels free to ignore them until the highway repairs get to them. Regardless of how things work here, that is just unacceptable.
Forget even talking about the piss-poor and ever-deteriorating roads in the villages. Riberas, for example, has never seen a road repair in the 20 years I've been here. Not once. And no official takes anyone or anything to task. To wit: the Pemex in Riberas has a permanent water leak. It has caused major baches all the way down San Juan. The Presbyterian church has a permanent water leak. It has destroyed half of Av de la Ribera. Sure, they've dumped tons of gravel to cover it up, but each dump is only temporary... meanwhile thousands of gallons from both businesses are being wasted, and that is completely against the law.

Driving the carretera through Riberas is akin to playing a lethal video game. If not dodging the upcoming potholes in your lane you must dodge the cars swerving into your lane as they dodge the potholes in their lane.
Agree with you, CG, they have given themselves permission to ignore this road work until their favored road work plan reaches Riberas. If ever.
If only there was such a thing as accountability.
