Well the newest equipment is at the new San Antonio Hospital, so that would be your best bet.  They aren't very busy, so probably be glad for your business.  Don't know if they will do it without one of their doctors getting involved, their radiologist or orthopedic reading it.  Seems like that's their model..  Guad specialists for everything..  Definitely dont want X-ray from the Maskaras site - equipment so old, the images are very poor.

Side note: Three nights ago, they wanted my friend w a dislocated shoulder to be admitted in Guad.. (Nice clear X-ray tho..) It is a 10 minute procedure muscle relax injection & tug on the arm... <NO, not going to Guad> So 15 minutes later, oh, the anesthesiologist will be here in an hour. Hmmm .. So check & see if an orothopedic dr is scheduled on a certain day..or will they let you take film to own doctor.  BTW, it is 700pesos/hour to be on an urgencia gurney, so might not want to go that route.. Shocked

The x-rays at the old Maskaras Clinic was a Chopo Lab business and they have now moved to the building where Pancho´s Deli is.  The new SAT Hospital has their own new x-ray equipment, nothing to do with Chopo that was in the old Maskaras Clinic.

I recently had xrays done at the new hospital preliminary to hip surgery. They do not require a doctor recommendation; just walk in. The only question I had was why they didn't have some kind of a lift to get on the table: the technician picked me up and arranged me on the table.
The equipment looks good and the technician is competent. The doctor was happy with the xrays. The rates are about the same as they were at Maskaras.

Please note that if you require a written report from the radiologist along with the films, he is only there on Wednesday and Saturday.

Seriously, Caligirl, they charged 700pesos/hour to wait for their specialist to arrive?

Yep, Trailrunner.. they were comparing the cost 'getting a room' upstairs (3500p, 24 hrs? dunno) versus staying in the urgencia.. vs 4 hrs @700p = 2800p..

He paid 4,000p to anesth doc for drive down & back from Guad, for a 10 minute procedure.. Dr had to drive back for morning surgery schedule. (scary thought - administering general anesth on no sleep. I dislocated both my shoulders skiing in Utah years ago & paramedics popped it back in, once they sledded me down the hill.

But *best* part was that the IV pain med = tramadol. I questioned why pain still so intense, muscle relax not working either.. She said they didn't like to overdose their patients.. If IV meds had been sufficient, might not have needed a specialist now, would we... People all very nice.. professional, but I say cha - cing . The attempted admit to Guad tho, was over the top.

Wow man wow. Thanks for the clarification. Knew there would be pricey, but wow.

I will certainly continue to plan to go to Cruz Roja for any ortho needs I might encounter. The Chapala orthopedist on call there is super-duper. Dr. Nono (Dr. José Manuel Sánchez) 331 176 1538. Office on Juarez one block north of the mercado publico.
