Looking for a new mattress. Reviews are all over the place. I sleep hot. Hips hurt. Neck hurts.
Since I was very young I've hated mattresses and bed. I've had water beds, firm beds, soft beds, old beds. They all suck. Couches are my main go to. So why am I even trying?
Check out this video, now maybe, just maybe this is the one? Probably not but.... I'm still looking for the right mattress!
What do you think?

Did anyone watch the video? It's state of the art or is it marketing?
I am buying the purple pillow!

This is a joke, right? No? Strange marketing.
But seriously, you ever tried the "sleep number" bed? Now that's comfortable. Had one for years.

Re: The purple mattress
the Purple is a very unusual design. Basically the layer you're lying on is a layer of mesh. Imagine a square mesh, about 6 inches thick, and you are lying on the edge of the mesh.
But because it's pliable, that mesh doesn't dig into you (and there's a layer of fabric on it as well).
We don't own one, but we did try one in a store and really liked it.

Looks very interesting, but unfortunately they only ship to the U.S. and Canada right now.

Re: The purple mattress
Yes, I watched the video. Fun. But, as Sue said, they don't ship to Mexico, and as far as I know, neither do the "sleep number" beds. We had ours shipped with the rest of our stuff when we moved.

Re: The purple mattress
Since the newer Purple's (2,3,4) are more or less brand new designs over the original Purple, the jury is still (not near enough time/reviews) on whether it is an innovation or just the latest in marketing.
I personally like the newer hybrid (coil and memory foam) ones much better than the Original but have only 'tested' them in the store. Their return policy... return it for full refund within 100 days... makes it almost a no-brainer if one is truly interested in a new mattress.
NOTE: That "Sleep Like the Dead" website is great to understand mattress types and get unbiased information.

Re: The purple mattress
A mattress without coil springs, well supported and constructed, is not a mattress. Sleeping on foam will always be uncomfortably warm, and the 'memory' hype is just that. What the H is it supposed to mean?
In Mexico, we found the Selther brand to be excellent; even better than Wendy's best. Selther offered a double pillow-top, firm, Euro-style king size that we slept on for ten years without any noticeable sagging. When we moved to the USA, we bought a Serta, in the same price range, which failed miserably in a couple of months, and was returned for credit. Now, we were fortunate to buy a house, furnished, which included a double pillow-top higher end mattress by a specialty manufacturer. It reminds us of the Selther (made in Mexico), but I doubt it is as good, even at quadruple the price. Selther claims to use German technology in their construction, and the quality shows.
Selther site: Well, that link didn't work. Check with Dormimundo.

Re: The purple mattress
I hear ya! My memory foam mattress has developed Alzheimers. I will be checking out either a Selther or a Wendy in the near future. I was interested in the Wendy which repels mosquitos but can't find a lot of user feedback on it. Sounds like a divine combo for sleeping here.
