Walmart...my rant for the day!

Went through the 20 item or less line with about 10 items....gave the kid my credit card and said to him "credito por favor"...now my español isn't all that bad that he could not understand me. Ran the card & handed me the receipt & card. I said I need to sign the slip...no, he said his machine only does "debito"..that's what they all do...whaaattt? So I grumbled at him and went to the gal at the front & asked her about all the machines & she agreed with him. So I slowly went by the other checkout stands and watched as a foreigner signed a charge slip so I inquired of the cashier about the charge vs debit....he said oh, no problems this morning! I HATE WALMART!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good question, but if you must, why not do "cash and carry" and unload that stress package? We never use a card there. Life is simpler.

Yes, I don't understand why people use cards. Just not worth the hassle, the thieves are so clever.

If you dispute the charge since you didn’t sign the slip, maybe they’ll train the cashiers better.

My CC uses a pin. No slip to sign.

Nothing chaps my cheeks quite as bad as seeing and hearing people abuse the poor folks who work retail. They are simply obeying the rules laid down by their corporate higher-ups and don't deserve shite dished out by people who haven't got a clue. Oh, and I have never had to sign a credit slip either as, like Bob, my card is only accepted with a NIP and I get an immediate notification by phone. Using anything else here is foolishness IMO.

My credit cards don’t use a pin. I didn’t see anyone abusing “the poor folks who work retail.” The problem is very poor training by management. I retired after managing 5 stores so I know whereof I speak.

It’s all in the training and I can tell you that when I go into Walmart I grit my teeth watching employees blocking aisles, talking on cell phones and doing everything but their jobs. I don’t blame them. If I see this crap, their bosses must yet they do nothing about it.

I digress but talking about so so staff and lack of supervision...INTERCAM.... have you seen the front of the office lady..always seems to be spending time doing a face job and barely creeps in before opening time...

Well I always use a CC at Wallyworld so I can track my expenses. And I shop there as little as possible AND I was NOT trashing the employee....obviously he was just lazy and wanted to get people through his line because others were using the correct method. My CC requires a signature for purchases.

My wife always pays Walmart with a NOB credit card which is cheaper than extracting money from the ATM and paying cash.  Of course, it always requires a signature.  No problems in 3 years.  Cell phone dings seconds after the transaction is complete.

You don't need an ATM to get cash out of a bank. I go to the bank as needed and they hand me what I ask for. No charge.
I think the use of cards has become so ingrained that going with cash is almost an alien concept....but it does keep things simple.

If your CC does not give points, you are using the wrong CC. I earn a free R/T ticket back to Alaska every year ! CC and Cash can have the same problems, over charge, returns, etc. "Smile be Happy" another beautiful day outside !
