There was more than one trailer too. I think total 3 or 4 , then reports started coming in from other states that they had bodies in trailers too. Disgusting. On so many levels.

I hope they were n a refri trailer otherwise it could be pretty bad.. In France when we had a heat wave that killed 15 000 people in the summer when everyone was on vacations they put the bodies in the cold rooms of the abastos... in Rungis.. If you have too many bodies and need some time for autopsy or to process them you have to put them somewhere.. The problem here is that they probably forgot to turn on the refrigeration to save money....

Yes, yes to the above comments....and yet, the "article" in the link was completely over-the-top. Unprofessional, irresponsible and sloppily written. Look at the vocabulary used throughout, starting with the headline "Holiday in Hell".

I've never read it but always assumed the "Toronto Sun" was a legitimate newspaper since it said "Toronto". Is it not? And if it is a legit publication, when exactly did journalism die entirely?

The Toronto Sun is the National Enquirer of Toronto. Garbage newspaper. The Toronto Globe & Mail and the Toronto Star would be my preferences in that order.

The inside skinny, which I happen to believe, that this man was murdered over a large gambling bet that he refused to pay.

It is clear this murder was an execution. The “why” does not matter so much. If you are warned several times about something you are doing or not doing, best to heed the warnings. It is very inexpensive and easy here to hire people to carry out anything you want done — including the taking of human life.

So Bob, are you inferring that regular gringos going about their everyday business, and trying to fit in with the locals probably doesn't have to worry about walking down the 'goat path'?

Using the goat path has nothing to do with fitting in with the locals.  It is a shortcut from the Libramiento to SuperLake and that whole area.  When we lived in CieloVista, we walked that path all the time, for ten years.

Yes, this conversation veered of into a ditch with the assumption that Bob's 3 different possibilities had anything to do with fitting in with locals and goat paths!

What I meant by my question was that gringos going about their normal business don't have to fear that they will be shot if they happen to be walking down the goat path. It sounds like this wasn't just a random robbery attack.

I don't know the individual involved, but I'd say the odds of it being a random robbery-gone-wrong attack are between slim and none.

Not likely according a a Federale friend. The cartel does not like to draw unwarranted attention. When they kill fellow bad guys the cops do little investigation.

Well if it was local boys flexing their muscle then they are likely now part of the body count. The only fact I know is the eye witness was a retired Canadian cop who said in his opinion it was a hit. He gave his statement and went back to Canada.

I'd be more afraid of being a witness or catching a stray bullet than them actually targeting me....of course...dead is dead.

Hence the reason the eyewitness gave his statement and got out of Dodge.
