How to block phone numbers

I have been getting a constant flow of calls from   numbers starting with 55.  I understand them to be scamming numbers.  How can I block them?

I use an app called "Should I Answer?". The do not call list DOES NOT work.

The do not call list is a joke. I block numbers every day and report them to the do not call list and I get more calls than ever. I will try the Should I Answer app. Thanks for the suggestion of the app.

Why to some folks get all kinds of landline calls and other don't? I have had the same Ajijic landline for more than twenty years and the same cell phone number for maybe as many as 10 years and almost never receive calls from strangers.

Pete, most of the calls we get are on my cell and from financial services of one kind or another. I suspect that the problem originated with either Santander or Bancomer selling my number. On the landline, the rare calls we get are for the previous owner of our house from whom we simply took over service (account properly changed into my name). He failed to close his bank account being heading north and probably owes service charges.

Most of the calls I get they know my full name and when I explain to them that my Spanish isn't good enough for a phone call they hang up. I assume they are soliciting credit cards or something from my bank. This only started after I opened a bank account at Bancomer.

My flow of calls seem to be landline.  No one speaks.  They hang up before they would be charged.  Mostly I do not answer.
When I do I just  pick  the receiver up and hang it up immediately.

On my landline I have been getting calls from people wanting propane. Been going on for over 8 years.

Do you tell them you will be right there......?

That’s an idea but I don’t want them calling back when I don’t show up.
