We're looking to do dog sitting at our house. Not so much to get a few extra pesos, but since we lost our little girl, we, and her brother and sister, have missed #3.

Income would be nominal, we're sure.

Do I need a lawyer?

Any input from someone who knows will be appreciated.

Thanks.

You will need to set up accounts with both municipal and state tax authorities to report your income and pay your taxes every two months. It's not likely you need any licensing or permits however a lawyer could quickly check for you. You should also inform immigration that you will be working.

OR

You can just quietly and discreetly go about your cash business and "for get about it" like 99% of the other dog sitters do around here.

Your choice. Personally, I have done things by the book. I was taught never to mess with the tax man...... Beer

Probably, I had Spencer register me with the tax authorities, inform immigration of my intent to work and check into what permits or licensing I required.

I forgot one thing......I also contracted an accountant to report my income (via my online accounts) and pay my taxes. I go and pay him every two months. It would probably be pretty easy to enter your income yourself if you are fluent.
