I was asked to remove it due to an on-going investigation.

I was looking for that information this morning while talking to a friend. Her good friend was robbed in Ajijic Centro on Tuesday and her neighbor was robbed in Las Fuentes perhaps Monday.
'Tis the season folks. BE AWARE, BE VIGILANT AND BE SAFE.
I understand why you took down the post CBob but someone's investigation is more important than getting the word out to warn others?
These occurrences are geographically wide spread.

Bob maybe you can ask how as too many people have interests in hiding crime stats and I can see if they post names or photos but how are people supposed to really measure safety levels if all the web sites and social media are pressured to remove all crime postings?
Its one thing if the government sends an official request but its another when someone wants to get in good with companies marketing or people who claim nothing bad happens here and get you to remove and they get brownie points and people aren't aware of what is happening so they can take measures to protect themselves.

I’m not on that Facebook crime site but maybe as we hear of burglaries, robberies, home invasions, etc. we have one thread that lists the location of each?

This story was posted here and on Facebook for many days so I'm sure anyone who is interested has already read about it. It was also removed from Facebook. I was told that it could hinder an on-going police investigation and that the facts that were presented were inaccurate anyhow. There is a lot of people who rent (so have no financial gain to remain quiet) in CVN and they all seem to be tight lipped so something is going on.

Okay. I'm posting using a hotspot. CFE is out again in Riberas.
I would like to CORRECT my error from yesterday. Robberies took place in El Limon (not Ajijic centro) and Las Fuentes. I confirmed this info with my friend who knows both families that were robbed. Money, ID (because one was an entire purse) and small electronics (ipad, iPhone) were taken. Losing ID (driver's license and immigration card and credit cards etc.) is a royal P.I.T.A. at this time of year. Make copies and stash the copies someplace else.

I have noticed an uptick in “armed” robberies. Use of a gun was rare here and now I see it more frequently.

Chula Vista Norte
The info posted was so specific it could be used to rob another residence, it was also suggested it be pulled cuz robbers are accessing this and other sites. To wit; my stolen phone was used to try and access my google account and a phone from another robbery was also used to access my google meaning sim card transfered from phone to phone. A guard at CVN was involved, he had worked at another location and helped with robberies there as well. He has since dissappeared. The crew that hit CVN also were responsible for at least 10 robberies in 24 - 48 hours. The car used was photographed at CVN and behind Walmart.
Don't ask,,,, I did not photograph car or see robbers.
The month of December seems to have an increase in this kind of activity, police say it has started earlier than in the past, not sure thats true but was said by them..
Please no snide comments or requests for more info, being directly involved is enough for me. These robberes are very good the 2 locations at CVN were done in an hour.
Be aware of out of state license plates!!!

Re: Where did the Chula Vista Robbery stories GO????
Last Thursday, my son got off the bus at Farmacia Guadalajara in Ajijic and the police were there. A older female expat had her car stolen. He doesn’t have any information as to whether she left the car unlocked or left the keys in the car but a heads up.
The local Mexicans are also reporting warnings of car break ins in Riberas to Ajijic, a picture of an expat’s broken driver’s side window here. https://www.facebook.com/100001381057442/posts/2106123582776990/
We were taught by our Mexican friends, when we lived in Guadalajara, not to leave ANY valuables in our vehicles, even if you couldn’t see them from the window. We also always had to use a steering wheel bar. May be a season we consider doing that again here.
I’m standing out in front of our church next door to iShop during the weekdays selling organic makeup and skincare and I sure keep an eye out because I remember stories of things happening at the corner hardware store next block over through the years.
Thursday there was pretty colored blue beat up bug that pulled up with 3 Mexicans. 2 men and a woman. I sure felt uneasy about them so I asked my son to come over and stand by me. They drove away towards Riberas. I asked my son if he saw anyone get in or out of the car and he said no. Maybe I should have called the police, next time I will. The police are civil police and they DO want us to call if anyone is questionable. They want to ask people who they are and what they’re doing.
In my neighborhood, CH, we have a really good private online Facebook group and now WhatsApp Neighborhood Watch group which continues to grow as people are moving in here, there’s no where else for people to go, so we’re told. Our security man also lives here so he has personal interest to protect our area. He is working very closely with Chapala police to keep our area safe during the holidays and is known for chasing robbers out, running after them literally with the police and other residents, awesome! Wednesday night, I pulled in the fracc, the police were driving around, I thought great, they’re keeping an eye on things. I got to my house and saw strange head lights, 2 moto cops were coming around. Stopped, I asked if everything was alright? They calmly said yes then said they were looking for someone trying to get into a house and to please call if I saw someone with a sweatshirt on. When my husband came in after me had said the cops had someone pulled over at entrance 2, man and a woman, and they were talking to them very roughly. As a community as a whole throughout lakeside, best thing we can all do is keep an eye out, call the police if ANYONE seems suspicious. Better to be safe than sorry and the worst thing robbers like is a great neighborhood watch.
I’ve been hearing of stories too that the gated communities area not exempt. One story was recently a resident’s neighbor was broken into off the libramiento. The robbers moved her security camera over so they were not recorded. That tells us a couple of things. 1. Security cameras are a deterrent because her home was not robbed at that time. 2. Place the cameras in a spot they can’t be reached. A couple of ours are mounted to the top of the house on poles, no one can reach them. Our house was passed over in the past month when they were ringing our intercom, pushing on the door. Our dogs were too busy playing with a new pup up by our house to come down to the gate and bark at them, but had they attempted to climb over anything, they would not have had a pretty welcome, hehe They tried sizing up our home and moved on. Don’t let people tell you there’s nothing you can do, if they want to get in they will, there’s always something people can do to protect themselves and their home. I was home when it happened, called the police and they came right away and escorted them out, then I sent the video recording to their WhatsApp and our neighborhood watch group of exactly what happened.

Re: Where did the Chula Vista Robbery stories GO????
Btw, the two that came to our house, one looked like a clean construction worker, ripped up jeans, tank top, the other was a younger slim guy with black clothes/sweatshirt with a hood over his head. One with the hoodie stood under the tree across the street while the other rang the intercom, pushed on the door, more than once(it didn’t budge,we have a high security lock), looking through slim the crack, standing back in the street checking out the front wall. You can’t see our home from the street but you can see the security cameras mounted on poles. They told police they were looking for work at 11 A.M. on a Saturday. Ya, looking to work over a house and rob it. We have no soliciting signs posted at the entrances and when I showed the video to Mexican friends, they all said, “you don’t look for work like that.”
Robbers not getting far when police arrive promptly from neighbor’s calling and actually getting run on foot by residents, police and a security guy, I’d say probably easier to find somewhere else to go.

Re: Where did the Chula Vista Robbery stories GO????
Our small village car, a 14 year old ATOS, was marked on Tuesday night. We took care of it on Wednesday.

So the rest of the story. I was told by my construction workers on a house in upper Ajijic that it was time to have someone sleep in the house because it had been obviously being watched. So we put that in place last weekend. There is someone there now all the time. However when I paid wages and Aguinaldos this week, on Friday since there was a big family party on Saturday, I mentioned the marks on the car. I take a photos of labor bills, money etc... date stamped and I flipped back to the photo of the marks. Surprise surprise, one of the fellows started talking rapidly, a couple looked around, one said to excuse him and he left to go outside to talk on his phone. The explanation I got was that there are strangers in town from the San Andres and they are still around and that the fellow on the phone knows who knows who knows how to reach them. Not sure how to feel about all that. Husband put duct tape over the mirror so it looks broken.

Our small village car was marked on Tuesday night. It probably involves just the side mirror and the car attachment plate. It is not chalk. But still. No other cars for two streets were marked.

Another heads up....check for new/unusual marks on the outside of your house. Erase them immediately.....could be another target "mark".

Not sure about crime reporting, but 2 Sundays ago I was driving up Lazaro Cardena around 8 am and just before hitting the Libriamento I noticed 2 bomberos looking down in to the field. Well as I got closer, there was a dead man with his hands tied. Later my neighbours also told me that the Friday before, I guy was shot in the Tepehua area. About 2 weeks before that there was another body further down Lazaro Cardenas.
