Recycling starts today in Ajijic

A very positive step. Is it important that the glass, plastic and tin be clean? I have mixed reservations if it does or doesn't.
1) I don't want to use another valuable resource (water) to clean them
2) If they are not clean then, depending on the storage method after they're pick up, they're gonna stink, rot and create a health hazard for workers. The pile of beer and wine bottles collected in San Pancho was a haven for flies and bees.

Baby steps Ferret. Lets first get everyone into the habit of simply separating into a recycling container then we can discuss details in a few months or so.

I have to laugh about the trucks passing on side streets too..

This a pilot project by the mayor and currently applies only to Ajijic proper according to Facebook

A question: Do aluminum foil or aluminum pie plates, etc., go in with the metals, plastics or regular trash?

aluminum s metal so I would put them with metal until they are not accepted...

It is for lower Ajijic so why should you receive anything?

They came by this morning and took my garbage and recyclable's as advertised.

They came this morning and threw everything in the compactor so what is the point about separating garbage? I separated it and everything got compacted in the same truck.

That's possible. It would help a lot if the area in the "test" zone were defined by street boundaries. From and including THIS street on the east... from and including THIS street on the west... from and including THIS street on the north... from and including THIS street on the south. Roll it out slowly and it would also be beneficial to have the recycle truck travel the route first, followed by the garbage truck. It seems to be simple organization involved ... I rest my case.

We are in the lower village so I should be included or they should tell us the exceptions..I Ocampo is included we should be included...maybe privadas are excluded .. Who know what the program is , I am not gong to bother with them any longer and forget about it until they get their act together. Pretty sad when some indigenous villages have no problem with recycling and this place cannot get their act together..
