Antibiotic resistant super bugs... an option
I would have liked to have read all of this series. But, this is the last instalment with the details of an option for antibiotic resistant super bugs. It is my pet peeve... the doling out of broad spectrum antibiotics. It's like scatter shooting with a gatling gun. You, yourself, can guard against this by asking your Doctor to do a culture which would establish the cause of the problem and it's specific antibiotic sensitivities. Think SNIPER. It should take no more than four days max. to grow, identify and check for antibiotic resistance. Serious infections of the blood or CSF can be done more quickly because it is usually one bacteria causing the problem and there are no "normal flora" that must be separated from the invader.

I agree about the overuse of these things but a lot of people who are feeling lousy will jam any kind of pill in their mouth or take any shot just to get relief and we are so conditioned that the “doctor knows best.”

Now both e.coli urinary tract infections and gonorrhea are mostly antibiotic resistant. C. Dificil, which my father died from, is also antibiotic resistant and the overuse of antibiotics may be its cause.
