Telmex highjacked my pricing plan
I've had good service for 8 years on the $389 plan, can stream anything I want without problems. The occasional wheel spinning comes from high demand use of the wifi band (for casting with my Chromecast) by neighbors on weekend evenings I've been told by techies. All WiFi from our modems uses the same band apparently and in this case it penetrates walls perfectly. This month my bill came with the $499 plan charged. If I changed it then I did it in my sleep. I understand they cannot control your access to whatever is available on your street. I used to get 9-10 down. I checked today and it's now up to 19.5. The extra on my bill says it's for up to 20. I'm going in this week to find out how I got changed. Has anyone else been changed by them automatically just because it's available in your area now? It sounds like that might be what they're doing. I'm a bit skeptical about them after two different hits with the "insurance plans" I didn't order. I think if I demand they put me back on the $389 plan, they'll have to comply. Sneaky much?

I haven't had them increase my charge BUT, at one time, they did continue to charge me $999 when that plan wasn't even being offered any more. Go figure.
I would suggest you go into Telmex and ask them what is going on.

Mike Helper Guy tells me that neighbors can't be using my bandwidth unless they've gotten into my modem somehow...maybe that was what the other guy was talking about. It's slower when too many people are using the source's servers on popular TV viewing nights.

Well there is the total bandwidth coming down the pipe and then there is the bandwidth you are regulated to by your plan. When there is heavy use by all customers everyone slows down a bit and when there are multiple users connected to your modem then just you will slow down.....I think.

Re: Telmex highjacked my pricing plan
When I first came down I was having a lot of trouble with my internet. I've just realised that the issue was my computer using bandwidth to update Dropbox. This takes a long time after six months, and now that I know I can pause it when I really need to do something else.
Re: Telmex highjacked my pricing plan
Gosh, all I get is ten down. I would gladly pay for 20 down which according to the price sheet increases your monthly charge from 389 to $499.
Rather than complaining I would be celebrating.

I went into the office and they very nicely changed my plan back to the $389 one with a $110 credit on my next bill. I asked if this automatic change was common or why it happened and they were also puzzled. I didn't really expect there to be an explanation.

Funny, everything is always so puzzling in Mexico. . .
So, are you still getting 20 down with the 389 plan change back?

No, it went back to 9.15 down and 1.54 up right away which work fine for my needs, no twirling wheels on anything I watched last evening. Someone had told me they can't control what comes down any particular street but I guess that just isn't so. I'll keep checking to see if it ever bumps back up higher. For those who need 20, paying $110 a month more would be a minor expense, I imagine. I just didn't like them doing it automatically with no communication like they were doing with those insurance plans.

That ‘someone’ needs to know the facts before he/she speaks. Of course they can control what comes into each house. That is why/how they can offer different plans (speeds) to different people on the same street.
