Well we have been living in Mexico for 6 years and visiting for 30 years and nothing nefarious has happened yet (touch wood). The incident the other day was the first criminal thing I ever witnessed here.

I have no idea why this is, but some people are like that cartoon character with a little black cloud over his head that follows him everywhere. These folks have every variety of bad luck, it seems. I am a great believer in plain old LUCK.

Common sense, awareness of ones surroundings, avoiding illegal activities and those that participate in such activities, and maybe a little luck for sure.
